I believe I've watched just about every video you've made over the past month; Now that I have finished this one (your latest), I'm kind of down, knowing that whenever I wanted to, I could just pop on a video of yours that I hadn't seen before and just rock'n roll through them all. I pay for satellite tv every month, and I prefer watching your videos over my own tv believe it or not. From the Glastron, life updates, jetski's, and now the 220, it's been a blast! Keep it up, you're almost done!

@2chefjeff2 The hardener is the trick. It makes the paint dry faster and harder. You mix it together and then let it sit for 30 minutes and then spray. Rattle cans take forever to dry, and are not as tough. I use the etching primer from duplicolor.

LOTS of great ideas,man; the drive stand, and the way you suspend it from the crane(WATCH out for those long threaded rods!!), but i use 1/4 inch bolts only,the drive only weighs 43 kg, if you put the chains (dog chain is enough for that, no need for that heavy chain --but i see you have money to burn,lol) on the other side, it will balance better,obviously; and the painting ;(if you sand thru the primer you should alodine first,the manual says)

Black epoxy spray paint is the best that I have used on the outdrive. Mask off all the zincs first. And by the way, cutoff that trim indicator wiring as it is degrading all the wiring in your boat by galvanic corrosion!

you can see most of the water will flow out of the leg, you will get a small amount of water come out of the sides, you can see the spray in the video you mentioned(searay 220 corsa) but i agree, it sounds awesome.....

With the hardener, you really are shooting epoxy paint...hard as nails when cured. Would like to know how much the pain flowed, if any, over the next day.Never thought of hitting Tractor Supply for paint...lol. Going to now...redoing my gimble bearings/bellows (and whatever else I find) so might as well shoot the drive! Thanks a good job!

I forget which vid it was where you mentioned zinc chromate, but you can still get it. Aircraft Spruce sells it. Btw, I'm about to embark on the same project myself with a Sea Ray SRV 190. I made the same mistake when I bought it.

I painted my outdrive and painted the surfaces that the zink sits on and now I'm reading that the zink needs to sit on bare metal to work properly

@kc8ard Yes, that is true, but they do not sell zinc Di-chrimate. That is the good stuff

Love all your videos!! I've been seeing that you dont put etching primer over paint because it can actually lift it and cause corrosion. That you're supposed to use it only on bare metal and then put normal paint primer everywhere before final coat. Any thoughts or results you can share? Thanks!

I love your video's! Now that it's been several years since you used the Valspar, are you still a big fan or have you found something better? Getting ready to paint my 1989 Cobalt that I have restored, finally at the end! If it was 2 feet bigger, I would put the Corsa exhaust in, but at 21 feet, its a little small. Don't know how long I will keep it.
