Hey there, folks! Welcome back to my channel, where today we're going to tackle a problem as old as time: tired-looking radiators. You know the ones, coated in boring old white powder. But fear not, because we're about to give them a makeover that would make Picasso jealous!
Now, to achieve this transformation, we're going to need two secret weapons: Bedec MSP in soft satin and the Qtech HVLP (QT5) sprayer. These bad boys are going to turn those radiators from drab to fab, from dull to delightful, and from "meh" to "wowza!"

Alright, let's dive into the process, shall we? First things first, we need to give those radiators a good ol' cleaning down. We want those babies to be squeaky clean, just like your conscience after eating a whole tub of ice cream!
Next up, it's time to mix our magical paint. Grab your Bedec MSP in soft satin and get ready to work some alchemy. Think of yourself as the Bob Ross of radiator makeovers. Mix that paint like a master chef, and remember, a happy radiator is a good radiator!
Now comes the fun part. Bust out that Qtech HVLP sprayer and get ready to unleash your inner Picasso. Spray those radiators like you're competing in the world's most artistic marathon. Be bold, be brave, and don't be afraid to make a mess. Jackson Pollock would be proud!

Waited nearly a fortnight for this vid but it was definitely worth it cheers Phil👍 stop apologising for going over techniques or thicknesses etc some of us newbies and diyers are still learning.. I slowed down your spraying so I could watch the whole of the technique in slow-mo 👌if you could add a guesstimate approx how much paint you should use on a job, wall ceiling would be great I know the tins have square feet on them but it never seems to work out for me in the real world so it would be a guide from a pro

I have a fuji turbine set up not as expensive as yours I have the 1.3 aircap and needle and the 1.8 aircap and needle which would you recommend for spraying msp on radiators thanks in advance

1.8.... you'll need to thin it a bit... if that puts too much paint out, drop down to the 1.3.... but that size is more for thin paint and lacquers.

Hello Phil. Just also got a qtech q5 and seems really good so far. Have you tried the gravity cup conversion kit for this type of work? I was thinking of grabbing the fuji 9960 conversion thing for my qtech q70 gun

I bought one around a year ago. I wasn't impressed. Very cheap plasticy and the guns are way too bulky and chunky to get into certain areas. You'd be better off getting a q tech or something similar. My wagner has been used for 10 minutes and sat in the garage since.

save and get the stage 5, you'll always think with a stage 3 you're missing out on power and wil struggle with some paints

Hi Phil, love the videos - I'm currently disappearing into the details too much for an amateur. But it is fascinating and clear, which is awesome as I've assembled so much conflicting advice. I'm planning to spray my old cast iron radiators and pipes a RAL 2014ish bright orange colour with the Brillux 990 paint. I'm just wondering what you think of my plan to 1. Clean 2. Sand with fine grit then clean again 3. Prime 4. Paint. 5. Paint again 6. Drink tea in my hammock. I'm planning to use a Wagner W100 sprayer but have no idea what primer to use. Are these ther right steps/products? And what primer do you recommend? Point of info-i live in Germany, which explains the product choices. Brillux, Carapool, Alpina, and Schöne Wohnen are the ranges that are readily available here. Thanks for the tutorials. They're fantastic.

Hi, yes, you're using a paint not really used in the UK. The old cast radiators could rust... what I would say id ask the advice of the Brilux rep, as looking at the paint you're going to use, may need a dedicated suitable primer for the actual paint you're using. Now, the whole reason I used the BEDEC MSP, as it did everything in one and for ease of application it goes staright onto radiators without a problem. please keep in touch and let me know what they say.

Hey phil, have you tried any pre cat lacquers with your hvlp? Was going to try hmg or morrells pre cat through my gun Also do you gind thr 1.8 vs thr standard 1.5 makes a difference?

not tried thouse. what do you need about the needle? 1.5 is for thinner paint... 1.8 is better with thicker paint

Thank you for this Phil. I were looking at buying this paint for spraying a few upvc bits and now possibly radiator 😂 Just what i needed to see 👍I will be using a compressor and gravity pot but i dont think this should effect anything? I have only sprayed 2pk and celli previously. Do you think I would get away with a 1.5 nozzle for this paint please with a bit more gun adjustment? Thank you.

You'll be fine. As you'll thin it anyway and open up the needle if needed

Which HVLP do you recommend for light use by a amateur? I've been wanted a hvlp or lvlp for a few years but can't justify the costs for light use. The ones I've seen come with a compressor and I'm not sure which size i need.

There used to be a painting contractor call Bedec based somewhere in the midlands. I can remember subbying for them. I don’t know if they are still going?

Hi Phil I don’t know if you realise that adding a detergent to the water helps stop paint clogging the paper, especially paint that is not fully cured (between coats) 50 years ago we would have a bar of soap in one hand and 320 grit paper in the other to flatten down cellulose gloss paint prior to the final coat.

Yeah. It's how we did it at college, soap on the wet'n'dry to aid the paint from stick and clogging. You struggle even finding wet n dry now days lol

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator Hi Phil, knowing very little about the media world but knowing enough that you are continually trying to up your presence on KZfaq, Tik Tok etc. I was thinking people love to show off their work, their achievements possibly as a result of things they have learned from your channel so would it be possible to have a website where people could upload photos of their achievements and comments. It would raise your presence with one bouncing off the other so to speak. Maybe it’s possible but the management could be very involved and therefore costly as there would always be idiots posting something that’s unacceptable. I think you could really build a large following though. I have 2 sons that are web developers and one a graphic designer if you need any help. 👍

It's interesting that you pour paint from the back of the can. My instructors always said pour from the front so you can always read info if needs be.

Fronts of cans have paint colour codes... That you can cover up. With paint. Instructions are the same on each can .. Also it looks messy lol

@@MarkClifford-fh9ip ever can of Bedec MSP is the same, no matter what colour. Different paints can be different instruments but as long as you know what the paint is from the front of that can, you can easily check instructions on line. What you can't check is a colour if the reference code has been lost.

@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yeah sorry I was referring to different brands tins and their instructions. Before an annoying seizure at 40! a few years ago, I use to remember every colour for all my jobs. I now make a written note. Lol. I do enjoy your videos, most entertaining for a paint freak.
