Wow - that is amazing - I wasn't sure how the stencils would look but having a larger stencil gives such a pleasing look to the eye - a more genuine tile look. Super useful for Victorian properties in the UK I think. Good job - appreciate you sharing your inspiration and skills.

That came out absolutely beautiful! You are so very talented! If I want just a solid color can I just go ahead and use the GH sealer when it's dry? My bathrooms have decor with a lot of straight lines in it so that particular stencil pattern would really fight with the lines. Or..... Is it possible to use painters tape to create a horizontal line pattern around my tiles? Didn't know if it would stick good to the solid paint or if the tape might pull some of the paint off when I remove it. Just don't want to find myself in a huge "Oh No" moment. Thanks from Florida 🌴😎💙😎🌴
@RootsWingsHome
@RootsWingsHome 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! Yes, you could certainly just leave the tile a solid color and seal it with Gator Hide. I'm not sure to be honest about the tape, I'd be afraid it would pull off some of the paint too! Hmm... I may have to do some painters tape research to find the right one. This is another Pittsburgh day of snow that I wish I was in Florida ❄

Thank you - it has held up wonderfully. We only use this tub about once a week, so it may not work as well with daily exposure to water. BUT, there is no flaking, chipping or scratching. The whole tub is cleaned with a bathroom cleaner and water. I hope this is a good solution for you!

I would like to renovate my bathroom with more of a Moroccan/Spanish tile look. It currently does not have any tile in it so I was wondering if it would be possible to use this method of Primer/paint/sealer on regular tiles before I actually placed them and grouted them in the bathroom? Would that work? Would they hold up? Also, does it have to be any specific kind of paint? or would craft acrylic paint work? I would like to stencil them in multicolour as opposed to just roller painting them two tone. Can I use your method?
@RootsWingsHome
@RootsWingsHome 4 жыл бұрын
I think if I were going to install new tiles, I would get them with this print already on them. That would be the most durable option! I saw some at home depot a few weeks ago that are so pretty! It does need to be this or a similar primer/paint/topcoat application!

Can you use any water based polycrylic on this? I'm anxious to paint my shower walls faux marble, but my biggest concern is the primer and sealer. There is soooo much information out there and different product suggestions. I saw where someone used Seal Krete waterproofing primer/sealer. I'm assuming this is to be applied before and after. But it looks like it is made for garage floors and exterior surfaces. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, I plan to stencil my floors in a similar pattern as yours and wondered if it would be the same process?
@RootsWingsHome
@RootsWingsHome 4 жыл бұрын
So, I'm not sure I would do this for a shower if it was getting daily use. Seal Krete may be a good option for a daily use because it's going to be much more durable. As for the floors it would be the same process but I would give it a few layers of the topcoat - and if you could do any prep sanding to wear off the finish of the original floors I would do that as well to help it really stick!

@@RootsWingsHome thank you so much for the advice! I just finished my countertops today and need to go purchase a bar top epoxy to put over it because the recommended product didn't do the job. So any other projects, I would like to do right the first time. Lol

I don't think I would use this paint for something that's always getting wet. I think for occasional exposure to water it's okay. This blogger used Epoxy paint for wet areas, that may be an option: proverbs31girl.com/bathroom-refresh/

This is holding up great! No flaking or chipping paint. BUT this is a tub we only use about once a week, so it has a lot of time to dry between. I'm honestly not sure I would do this in the shower that is always wet. Maybe look into an epoxy paint (Rustoleum) and see if they have a solution for shower tile.

Do you think you could do this over travertine in a shower?
@RootsWingsHome
@RootsWingsHome 5 жыл бұрын
I *think* it would do pretty well. Travertine tends to be so porous I think that would work to your advantage. My only concern would be the exposure to more water. I think I'd do an additional topcoat for protection!!

Roots & Wings Furniture. Our small circa 1940’s shower stall had brown tiles already painted white when we bought it. Seldom used but we Love it. Problem is poor ventilation so especially here in Florida, moisture caused chipping peeling (mostly at bottom) and brown tiles are now apparent. Can I just use your prior / first video method to do touch ups or do I need to take it all off again? Either way, I’ll now make periodic resealing a routine part of our maintenance. Thanks !

@RootsWingsHome
@RootsWingsHome 5 жыл бұрын
@@kateyfox4810 I think you could just use the first video (primer, paint then the sealer) to take care of your chipping and peeling. You may need to scrape a bit more off to get an even finish. I would use 2-3 coats of the Gator Hide sealer to really protect the paint. I'd love to know how this turns out and holds up as you use it more often than we use this tub!!
