It's a genuinely gorgeous nmm tutorial for what I consider one of the hardest colours to represent. Beautiful effect explained very completely and broken down carefully and skilfully with clear instruction on light placement which is something few nmm tutorials achieve.. For a display quality single model this could well represent a way that folks could punch well above their weight on a classic space marine. That said and no criticism intended or implied I need to raise my game on painting units and this approach would just make the other 50 models look dreadful by comparison.

The technique is great, but not sure it reads as white tho. Looks more like steel to me?

Hi and thanks for your comment ! Yes, as said in the introduction, the interpretation may be different from one person to another, I also mention that it can be "more white" by making the primary reflections larger, something to try out. Cheers !

i tend to use terms like metallic white instead of silver or metallic yellow instead of gold so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Awesome guide, but you could do different model, maybe new striking scorpion (from kill team salvation) - they too are in full body armour, but it's something different.

Thanks for your comment! Yes this particular scheme requires a bit of practice with mixes, especially because it's a desaturated scheme. For beginners I would better recommend Blue or Green as a starting point, cheers !

Great video. The hardest part of this tutorial is blending the stepped or ‘staircase’ colour gradations. It would be really useful to slow down, zoom in and show the brush strokes here as this what people struggle with the most. The diagrams that illustrate the concept of blending are great but the reality of such a small surface means the brush strokes are larger and more varied. The model looks amazing and you’re a great painter. Thanks for everything

Hi ! Yeah it looks a bit like silver, depends what you have around as a contrast piece 😅. That would definitely work on Necrons, maybe with a bit of Green OSL ? Cheers !

Yes definitely ! There zre actually the same color, but Heavy Charcoal has more pigment in it. Cheers
