I've been painting 1/24 scale and even some 1/8 figures for about 10 years but after seeing your fantastic artwork I am starting to pluck up the courage to try scale models. I'm now 58 but I bet your work has inspired many young people into the world of models and miniatures, Please keep making these amazing videos.

I was gonna say that wood grain looks huge and unsuitable for a propeller, but then I saw that photo and realized I didn't know enough about propellers :P Never knew they made them layered like that, but it makes perfect sense.

You can put oil paints to cardboard palette about 10-30 minutes before painting to let linseed oil from paint to soak to the cardboard. Paint will dry a lot quicker and will have more matt finish.

on my paper Fokker Dr. 1. 1/33 scale i made the propeler exactly how they used to make them in real life... only that i used carboard "planks" that after i sanded to the corect shape i painted it using as guide lines the very faint glue line between the "planks" and it looks verry realistic... the big problem is the sanding to the corect shape .... geat tutorial plasmo, although i only build paper models i enjoy a lot your videos.

There's going to be a difference between left hand and right hand propellers too. If you are left-handed, like me, a right hand propeller is easier to paint. The twist on a left hand propeller goes the wrong way. *EDIT I have also found that, while I like the effect of oil paints on models, I don't like the finish. It tends to have quite a lot of surface texture which is not to scale. I haven't been brave enough to attempt to sand it back yet.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial, always a great joy to watch. I have a question about the Mr Color GX100 Super Clear III and its combination with the Mr Color Levelling thinner. Can you please indicate the thinning ratio you use and at what psi you set your airbrush? Thanks.
@Noobman301
@Noobman301 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm using the same varnish and I thin it in crazy 1:5 ratio (Varnish : Thinner). It sprays nicely between 15-20 psi. Rock hard, glass-like finish.

@idaemonplasmo
@idaemonplasmo 6 жыл бұрын
I use 1:2 for thinner but I have 0,4 mm nozzle and air pressure 15-20 psi is ok. If you have 0,2 or 0,15 nozzle, then you must use a ration like Lobomír. 1:4 or 1:5
