I had issues with scissoring, and the issue was the way I wasn't letting my hips relax. I'm a flexible person and my balance is great, but it felt so unnatural to scissor even a little bit--almost like it was too much of a stretch for my hamstrings. I realized you kinda want to practice putting all the weight on ONE LEG and almost swaying your hips back and forth as you shift weight to get the feeling down. Now it's the easiest thing ever! I bet someone who has been doing this for a while would be confused why it's hard to scissor for some, so I thought I'd give my 2 cents! Watching this video because I still can't turn enough to slow myself enough on a hill or to stop on a narrow sidewalk. ☺

For the scissors: it is not bringing the foot forward, it is bringing the knee forward. That way you will ride more stable.

one tip that helped me learn to scissor was instead of leaning my foot forward I just extended my foot forward, like your dipping your foot into a puddle, that way my weight stayed leaning back onto the trailing support leg.

Hi, when i scissor, get my edges right and put weight on the leading foot to turn, can't finish the circle, and my wheels slow down fully before completing the circle. What am I dng wrg? Any suggestions, please?

I am Confused with weight distribution, When you are turning where should be the most weight? inside foot or outside foot. Thanks

For the parallel turn weight on the inside foot which is your front foot!!! For other turns like the A frame it’s outside. The secret to a strong parallel turn is really the weight transfer to inside front 🩷🙏🤙

I have a heel brake on my dominant foot. Will this get in the way when parallel turning?

No it shouldn’t get in the way. Just makes the frame length longer so not as easy to maneuver

Basketball courts, tennis courts, or even an empty parking lot are all good places to practice.

oh yes, parking lots are your go-to skate rink. maybe there's an underused one around you somewhere. bad sidewalks and pavement for humans, but smoooooth pavement for cars, that's how we like our urbanism priorities 😎

I can scissor but i can not overcome the fear of edging. I can not shift my center of mass in the direction of turning. I can not edge. Any tips?

From what i felt in my foots, you need to let your weight on the heel of the front foot! Im a noob but i learn fast, and i think thats the secret…

I can skate just ok. But I’ve never mastered to parallel turn. Roller blades, ice skates, or even skies😂I think I’m afraid of putting enough weight and end up not turning just falling😂
