Building on the gained skills from the last couple of video's we are slowly getting out of the standard exercises and into the Level 3 territory. Today I will show you one method of passing a large Re-Anchor with a casualty or the Large Re-Anchor Rescue. The challenge we face here is that we need to ascend a bit with a casualty attached to us.
Have a look and tell me what you think 😃

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that when you end up using an old style ID having used the newer version or a new style RIG for a while. It's an interesting training issue especially when using one to ascend its very easy to forget to lock it off. I know you should always check it has actually locked off with any device but it's very easy to forget when you are used to the newer devices.

You are absolutely right. It is an interesting issue indeed. It is a good thing that forgetting to unlock it is less danger than forgetting to lock it. I have seen people who were trained with the new ID's only never locking of theirs because they were never taught. That is why I find it good to train with the older ones. Same goes for the asaps.In the real world I encounter a LOT of old ones instead of the Lock version. And the same people struggling with older ID's struggle with the old ASAPs..

@@TheRopeAccessChannel Well said. The only infraction I got on my level one test was for leaving the handle unlocked. I have the newer one that auto locks. The instructor told me the same thing you just said about the climbers forgetting to lock the handle. Although I was fully aware of the need to lock the ID, I forgot during the rescue on ascent. Jim

What kind of pulley system? It’s a theoretical 2:1 with a change of direction. The pulley is at the load so it’s an even system and there is only one moving pulley. But with the friction of the I’D it’s even less than that.

Those Petzl descenders that dont have a spring loaded handle should all be thrown in the bin :) hate using them, the new ones are so much better.

They are perfect until you need to step of a windturbine or building with 100 mtr of rope beneath you.. The weight of the ropegets pulled through to easy and on the old Rig and I'd, you could easily lock them of..

@@TheRopeAccessChannel well it's funny you should mention that because I work as a blade technician and on some jobs I have been given the ID without the locking handle which you have to open to ascend. With all your gear on, the stretch on the rope, tools, in a seat and anything else you are carrying trying to climb in the old ID is awful 😅
@TheRopeAccessChannel
@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
@@heliumfreak5364 ascending in an id sucks anyway😂. But seriously have you not had issues where the rope just slide through because of the weight. Whereas with the old ones you could just lock it off?
@Porkchop1312
@Porkchop1312 4 ай бұрын
@@heliumfreak5364why would you spend all that effort on climbing on your id unless it's very short distance. But if you're doing blade repairs or installing 3m tape/polytech.. just use the croll and get yourself a foot ascender like a Pantin. Easy peasy and way less hard your the body in the long run

I see you’ve got a Progress Adjust on your handled ascender!!! What do you think about that setup???

Good?! most of the times. SOmetimes it gets in the way. and sometimes I want that adjust somewhere else

Fair. I just started playing around with that setup… I think it may prove more bulky than useful? I also have another Progress Adjust free on the other side.

@TheRopeAccessChannel Жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 But if you are the load, aren't you suspended in only 2 ropes (in and out of the descender)... If someone on the ground would pull the tail end is it the same? (asking for a friend😉)👊🏻👊🏻

@@TheRopeAccessChannel I'm late to the party, but your weight is actually suspended on three strands (in and out of the descender and the pull strand coming out of the roll clip.) If your friend is pulling from the ground it would be a 2:1.😉
