In this video, I had to add in some missing hardwood flooring because of a wall I tore down. I was able to get some new pieces to add to my existing floor to fix the problem.

The flippers of my house took out a wall, hid electrical wires in the floor, and covered the room in carpet. I've walked on and shampoo'd over live wires for 10 years! Now all exposed and floor socket added, time to get this hardwood floor to beauty. Thanks for your video and at 65...yes I can!

Great video! I need to do the same thing but where the removed original wall was prior to the remodel the wall foot print is flush with the existing original hard wood flooring. I am stuck not knowing what needs to be done to remove the wall stud to the recessed depth of the existing hardwood floors. Any advice would be appreciated.

@@TheFixerHomeRepair awesome! I was wondering if it was. My husband now watches your videos too. 😁 I kept sharing your videos and now we talk about what you have done to your house and what we have done to ours. We finally replaced our front windows of our house. We've been living here since 1996. My youngest son's window at the top had an arch to it and when it was taken down it was held in with huge staples and two small screws!! 😯😯😯 We have no idea how it stayed up there so long like that. It's so much quieter in the house and we found out one of the windows wasn't insulated in at all. It was causing our electric bill to be high and we wondering why that room was always so hot. Oh the joy of finding out the surprises when working on your house. Hahahahaha! 😆😆😆

What ga nails are you using in your nailer? It might seem like a stupid question but you're using salvage flooring and I imagine it's pretty brittle compared to new. I was just wondering if you had any trouble with pieces splitting when you nailed them. Thank you.

If you'd use a 1 1/4 bit and put a pipe in the hole, you can knock the pieces out flush. Great work, though, brother.

Great video, I’m doing the same thing. Can you please tell me the best way to get those old thick nails out of the subfloor? I was thinking I would need a grinder and metal cutting blade to cut them flush. Did you just use a hammer to pull them out easily? Thanks again for your help

I like that you edited the video and did the fast forward thing. So many people don't do that and its annoying. Overall, a good video and I also like how to show how you choose where to cut the old boards to work in the new ones. Not many videos show that. A few bits of feedback - what nails did you use? Also, you don't show how to install the last piece by trimming off part of the groove. I have seen other people glue down that last piece. One thing I have seen others do it cut the wood with a circular saw to help get the old pieces out.
@TheFixerHomeRepair
@TheFixerHomeRepair 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the comment! I used 2 1/2 inch 15 gauge angled finish nails. Yeah I suppose I could have gone into more detail about the last piece. I did not glue the piece but you most certainly can. I just face nail it to allow for any minor movement it might have with heat, cold, and humidity levels. I find that a circular saw works well when you are tearing out old floor with the repair section that is wedged between the old floor. Fortunately this was between the old floor and a wall so it worked out where I didn't need to use a circular saw. This is all great feedback. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe if you like my content for more videos like this!!

what type of nailer are you using? it doesn't look like a flooring nailer. I thought it was hard to get the nails angled right without that big shoe alignment thing, but you're making it look easy. years of experience, or is it really not that tough?
