Bought my house in 2012. It was built in 2004. Came with a Bosch 300 full stainless steel interior dishwasher. I run that everyday, sometimes 2-3 times a day. I refuse to wash dishes. This dishwasher I have is a true work horse. As long as your dishes are spaced out well, the water gets hot and you use excellent dishwasher detergent, you will be fine. I highly recommend Lemi-shine for detergent.

My Bosch 300, the dishes come out dry except a few things like the lip of plastic containers or the top of cups, things that don't come out dry from any dishwasher. I love that I can put anything anywhere (like plastics down below). Things I don't like - bottom rack tends to fall off the rails and I have to select the cycle I want if it isn't auto every time I run it instead of remembering last cycle selected. Otherwise, it is great. Speed60 cleans super fast for 98% of the dishes washed.

I purchased the GE profile. It has all the features you want like heating element, third rach, filter, and steel bottom, for a few hundred dollars less. Even though supposed I don't have to wash the dished before I put them in the dishwasher, I do, because in time, food et stuck in the machine and sticks to your dishes. You definitely want the heating element unless you want to towel dry your dishes.
@RemodelMedia
@RemodelMedia 4 жыл бұрын
Food getting stuck depends entirely on what kind of disposer is in the unit. Most GE units have a simple grinder disposer. Whereas other models are switching over to a soft food disposer which is more efficient at eliminating food and preventing it from getting stuck. The heating element means different things to different people. Some people care some people don’t. But as I’ve said many times before everything I show is right for somebody. I never push just one product because everybody has different needs and desires.

@@RemodelMedia This is my second GE profile. My last one was installed in 2003. I like American companies, so I always try to buy American, when I can. I replaced the drain pump on my last one and I did not see anything in there to dispose of food. The industry has been saying for years they have a disposal in them, and they do not. That information has come right from the technician that repairs them, so I trust him. I really think if you don't pre-clean any dish going into any dishwasher, you are going to have to pay someone to take it apart and clean the food particles out of the dishwasher. The food particles show up after about 5 years. This is just my opinion based on past experience. I don't know if anything new has been added to the newer models to mitigate food drying on dishes after 5 years. But my dishwasher works well and is quiet. Sometimes I have to put my ear to it to determine if it is running. The only thing I don't like it the remaining time is on the top, so you cannot see how much time is left on the wash. It was hundreds less than the Bosch, and a thousand less than the Miele.

I have spent hours and hours researching dishwashers and I just can't figure it out. What would you recommend for a soft food disposal, don't care about noise, don't care about different wash cycles...just want the dishes to wash really well without cleaning them off and to be sanitized. A third rack would be nice but not necessary if too expensive. Is this possible for under $799?

Great question thanks for watching and thanks for reaching out. I would look at the 300 series from Bosch it’s going to have some of the high-end features that people are looking for as far as power, soft food disposal, even a water softener, but still be in your price range. See the link below. It’s also worth noting that Bosch has an aqua stop in this model and a lifetime warranty on the stainless steel tub inside. If you need a refresher I talk about this at 5:37 in this episode. amzn.to/36nbMuZ

Yeah, I got me one of those Bosch Dishwashers. Consumer Reports said this was a really good unit. I gave $550 for it at Lowes. It worked great the first week or so, after that this POS started sounding like a motor boat I get error codes all the time. In 3 years the repair guys have been out here to fix it 9 times. Had I know then what I know now I would have gladly given someone $100 bucks to kick me in the balls as to have had to buy this POS. After watching many videos on dishwasher some suggest if you want one to work and last it is going to cost $3,000. For that kind of money I will wash them in the sink.

Judging by the price and the fact that you got it at Lowe’s I suspect that you got the Bosch Ascenta model. Basically Bosch needed a cheap dishwasher to sell at Lowe’s so they took everything that made it a Bosch and took those features out. What you have is a Bosch in label only. Am I right?

@RemodelMedia
@RemodelMedia 4 жыл бұрын
Honestly nearly 20 years is a really good lifespan for a modern appliance. Anything over 10 years is considered pretty good. One thing you’ll notice is the washing cycle time will increase with current models compared to yours. This is because they are more energy efficient and water efficient as well. To put it into more relatable words. I can drive from LA to San Diego in an hour if there’s no traffic but to do it I have to be very inefficient with my resources specifically gas. I have to drive with my foot to the floor which will waste gas. Or I can drive a steady 55-60 miles an hour get there in a couple of hours and do the same job but it takes a little bit longer. if you buy an appliance today I predict that in 10 to 15 years we will probably have even more efficient and higher performing units available as far as technology goes.
@TacticalJackalope
@TacticalJackalope 4 жыл бұрын
@@RemodelMedia I have to strongly disagree. I've been in the appliance industry either as a vendor representative or in contract sales on the builder channel for 26 years. The average lifespan for ANY major appliance now is 8-10 years and that's coming from both my experience and data supplied by manufacturers.

@hallhouse5098
@hallhouse5098 4 жыл бұрын
I’d just rather wash all the dishes by hand and know they’re clean and I can get them all done in less than 20 min most of the time BUT my wife insists on having a dishwasher. My piece of crap whirlpool developed a leak and the pump went bad, repairs will cost me about half of a new machine and that’s with me doing the labor so I’m looking at new units. So far the Bosch and Kitchen aid units seem pretty nice. I never load dishes with food on them anyways yet my wife always does even though the farking dishwasher never cleans them well. Spatulas never come clean unless you scrub them first which is why usually do them by hand lol. Sorry one of my first jobs as a teenager was a corporate Long John Silvers employee. On day one I basically took a week long serve safe course which was mandatory. The manager was a stickler and food safety and cleanliness was paramount. Dude I learned how to wash dishes the right way. We had a four partition stainless sink for dishes. First was a slop sink to soak and scrape off food so the plate appeared clean, then the soapy water sink then pull and rinse with remote sprayer from above, then the bleach water sink, rinse again from above then put in another rinse sink then rinse from above again, pull to air dry under fan on separator racks. Dude I was proud of my clean ass dishes. This is why I hate dishwashers so much...lol. But the moral of my story.....never fear long John silvers if they still practice the same techniques we used in 1989. Anyways i looked at most of the links posted in the above description and most of them were unavailable or only had like 2-4 reviews...I’ll stick with what my gut tells me although yes the Bosch and Kitchen aid models look bad ass.

I don't know why you say European style dishwashers don't have drying cycles, every dishwasher I have ever encountered here in the UK dries dishes! We don't have the exposed elements, and haven't for years, but they still dry perfectly. Some seem to dry with the tub actually full of very hot water, not sure how but it works! I understand Miele is not a big name in the US, but for reliability, longevity and performance you really can't get better. In the U.K. they come with 10 year warranties, and are affordable. I would rather go for a basic specification Miele than a high spec machine by any other maker for the same sort of price.
@RemodelMedia

Spencer Wilton Thanks for asking these are some great questions. Firstly I’m specifying European style dishwashers not specifically dishwashers that are made in Europe. Secondly there are many appliances that Miele makes in Europe that are made completely different for the American market. So I’m not sure if the Miele dishwashers I’m seeing in the US are the same as yours in Europe. In the US Miele dishwashers, and many other European styles such as Bosch, do not have a drying element.

The new dishwashers these days leave dishes wet, my old one from 20 years ago didn't even use that much heat nor hot water and after it finished there wasn't even a drop of water on top of glasses. I even checked out reviews from Bosch "Crystal Dry" and many said it doesn't dry them good either.

That is correct Bosch will not dry your dishes. Just like I said in the video. If you’re looking for a dishwasher that’s going to dry the dishes you need to be looking for either a GE profile, GE café, GE monogram, KitchenAid, Jennair, or something like that.

I am really surprised with how American dishwashers work ! Here in Europe they all have water softener ( even the cheapest ), they NEVER have heating element outside the tub, and they don't have this " solid food " thing. This is so odd and disgusting, how can you put solid food in a dishwasher ?? Don't you have bins in your kitchen to throw solid food ?? There is also kind of mistake, in Europe they all dry dishes. To be honest with you, there are plenty of American dishwasher styles with stainless tubs and that "solid food" thing is no different than what a garbage disposal does. garbage disposals are common in most American homes, but your right... and I don't like them either, just throw it in the trash. You have to Remember, if your from a European country, is that the USA is HUGE. There are many areas that have naturally soft water and a water softener is not needed. Also... unlike in Europe which is high population per square mile, Most of the US is rather sparse and a great amount of homes have there own well opposed to municipal water. With a well, if your water is hard, you would get a whole home water softener. The whole "European" and "American style" is just a sales gimmick. I have seen 40 year old maytags with stainless tubs. Over here in the US if people see the term "European" people associate that with high end.
