Thank you for making a video showing us how to renovate a yard with general and affordable tools! So many of the other videos show people using thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Like come on! We all can't have that! lol

Of course! Home projects can be expensive so I tried to do this project on a budget. I got a few quotes which would’ve been a few grand to redo my yard. End cost for a DIY was a few hundred. Thanks for watching :)

Very informative! I wish I watched your video. I red the label and used 7lb grass seed that the bag says good for 2,680 Sq ft for 1,000 Sq ft but when the grass grew I had lots of bare spots and had to put more grass seeds. Thank you for sharing your experience 👍

Great video. Lots of Hard Work. I did everything you did and it turned out great. The only thing I did different was I built a shaker box and used Scotts Top Soil with Peat Moss and created a thin layer of soil over my seed and Scotts Starter Fertilizer. I am duplicating my efforts for a neighbor right now. It's starting to get hot and my soil covering doesn't have the Peat Moss. So I am hoping for the best. Again, great video!

To save time, instead of hauling dirt by wheelbarrow, you should back the pickup in the yard and opened the tailgate and raked the dirt out. Then level the dirt out and till it in.

I'm planting grass seed and I am doing it in between different sections to not waste any seed.I started planting tall fescue seed on May 18,2020 .Soon it would be around like 90F in call,so I'm just wondering how can I make it germinate a little quicker and also a watering schedule for california.
@citykidoutdoors8716
@citykidoutdoors8716 4 жыл бұрын
ReaganVFilms watering will be different based off of a few variables, seed, time of year, temperatures/humidity. Did you top dress it with a thin layer of topsoil or peet moss? I can’t give an exact water recommendations as everyone’s irrigation system is different. My best advice is to keep the soil moist. Do not soak it in water creating a pool in your yard but do not let it dry out either if the seed dries out too much it can be possible for it to not germinate at all. My best advice to you is to play around with your sprinkler system which is what I did. I started with 5minutes twice a day but I realized once it got too hot in the middle of the day my soil was dry so I split it up into sections of the day watering my grass slightly every few hours or so ensuring that the dirt/seed did not dry out.

This is what I was looking for. I’m in this situation except I’ve been watering weeds and zombified grass. You mentioned tilling up the dirt then waiting a month. After that you went through and removed all the weeds that grew back. Why not just till it up again?
@citykidoutdoors8716
@citykidoutdoors8716 3 жыл бұрын
Bryan Harrington the reason why I waited was because I sprayed weed killer on it and i didn’t want it to mess with the seeds. You are right tilling again could have been an option, I just didn’t want to rent a tiller and do the labor again. Thanks for watching!
@developer1584
@developer1584 3 жыл бұрын
@@citykidoutdoors8716 Right, I keep forgetting of all the basic tools I don't have I happen to actually own a tiller and not everyone else does. Go Figure. Would your process have been the same if you have tilled it up skipping the weeding step?
@citykidoutdoors8716
@citykidoutdoors8716 3 жыл бұрын
Bryan Harrington well, to be honest it really isn’t recommended to till. What I’ve been told is by you tilling you’re actually turning over the weeds and you’re replanting the seeds of the weeds by doing so. When I tilled my yard I did so in a manner that I wasn’t fully tilling, I basically used the tiller to rip up the weeds and I raked out the weeds and removed them. If I had to do it again I would probably rent a sod cutter, remove a few inches of my barren wasteland, add more soil, and then overseed.

I would ask whoever gave you an estimate to explain what those charges are if they haven’t already.( price per square feet on sod, install?, delivery? Soil?) also call around your local sod farms and get different quotes. I have about a thousand square feet in my yard and depending on which sod I went with I was quoted around 12-1600 if I can remember correctly

Arraya Kesaporn watering will be different based on your sprinkler system. I watered mine multiple times a day, just make sure that your soil stays moist and does not dry out, very important for the germination process of your seeds. But do not over water them and make a swimming pool in your yard.

Jonny G, as long as you know how much weight your truck can carry (legally), you're not going to damage the suspension or axles. All you have to do is COMMUNICATE your weight limit to the office and to the person loading you. The person loading you, providing they've been doing it for awhile, should know exactly how big a scoop they can get into your truck legally.
