This video shows a very quick setup, a solo example, (but the same for multiplayer), how the game works, basic moves, items and combat.
This should be all you need to get started! This is a tough game because we are playing with only one character and it's the healer! A hard challenge for sure.
Bag of Dungeon is a tabletop (dungeon crawler) board game of exploring deadly catacombs, fighting monsters and stealing treasure.
Using a simple-to-play tile-laying system, 1-4 players send their brave adventurers into the deep, dark dungeon to find the magical Ring of Creation. Once inside, the only way out is past the mighty Red Dragon who guards the exit. Will you escape with your life and your loot? Can your fellow adventurers be trusted? Can you? The entrance shuts behind you. Step into the darkness…

Played it the other night and I can honestly say that out of all the times I've played it, that tiles and the dice were not on my side. First tile was a monster tile. Second and even third tiles were monsters. Fourth tile was item tile and I drew a chest. I rolled a 2 and took the damage and died. I literally died by trying to open a chest.

Oh dear sorry to hear that! I hope you try again as it is randomly generated but can be tough I agree. I personally like a chaotic dungeon, monsters should roam freely and you never know what's going to be drawn. I love this game so much. Just 1 rules question; @10:45 you escape from the monster while you only have 1 damage point. Don't you have to take 1 damage to get off the tile with the monster, which means you get killed while fleeing?

Did you use 6ap at the start. Two moves and four tiles?

I did yes, so i laid a tile (1ap), moved (1ap), laid (1ap), laid (1ap), laid (1ap) and moved (1ap). Hope that helps.

Could he have just not gone in after getting the low role on the ice staff role and kept trying until he got an acceptable amount of damage to proceed in?

He could have only fired the ice staff once as it takes 4APs to use. A good idea though with maybe a less powerful ranged weapon. You only have a certain amount of APs per turn.

@Gunpowder Studios sorry if this has been explained, I just purchased the game yesterday. Could you just end your turn and try again after resetting your AP? (In advanced, I understand the monster would charge)

@@pvern78 No problem happy to answer questions. Yes, you can end your turn and try again but remember the monsters reset to full health if you don't kill them within your turn e.g. you run out of APs. Hope that helps. Also, spells are discarded after one use (so you need to plan) and that's why the ice staff is a great weapon. You can use it again.

Just got my copy, had a couple of play throughs. Really enjoyed it. Only thing i was confused about (doesn't take much)was traps, unless im being stupid i couldn't find mention of them. They made sense if you picked one out of the bag at random from an item tile, but what if your awarded them from killing a monster? Do you suffer the damage? Do both of you suffer the damage if you have tagged in another character to fight? Can anyond shed some clarity on this ? Cheers @gunpowderboardgames

Thanks for playing Alex, Traps drawn from the ITEMS bag will show what to do on the tile e.g 'to all on tile' but yes you take the damage instead of an item instantly. Hope that helps

If someone uses a damage speed on the dragon on their turn and doesn’t engage in the fight does the damage they dealt stay to the dragon when I go to fight it

Do you mean a range weapon or spell? You must strike for damage then (on the same turn) go in for close-up (melee) attack (uses no AP's aprt from the movement). If you end your turn or are defeated. The Dragon's health resets to full.

I'm a little confused, when you run from a monster, does the monsters health reset?

Hiya, Not really, the monster's health only resets once you have used up your APs e.g. ending your turn. But most players run away if they are being beaten on their last AP, inflicting 1 direct damage (ignoring armour) to you.

Bag of dungeon great game going to get part 2 just wondered why do we keep the dead monsters as trophies in solo mode unless you are playing the advanced rules where you can trade them in the shop what purpose does this have apart from making it more likely to pull a tough creature later on ? I was putting them back in bag after defeating them is this wrong in solo play ? Rules aren't really clear

Hi Simon, In solo you are right you only really keep them as a trophy (just to show off in the tavern if you get back;) but also if you want to trade with Fred the Gnome. We are about to release a small update to the rules on BGG which will make it clearer. Hope that helps!

If you have a ranged weapon, can you just stand one tile away and kill everything without them being able to attack you?

No because all range weapons require APs (action points) to use and you only have a certain amount each turn. After each turn monsters regenerate to full health. Hope that helps:)

picked this up the other day and finally getting through the rules. I see in my bag i have Rules Version 3.0. There is a slight difference in setup that I was curious about. For the exit tile the v3.0 says to wait until the last dungeon tile is placed and then place the exit on an adjacent square. The video how to play says to split the tile deck and place the exit tile in the bottom half and shuffle the bottom half and then place the top half back on the stack. Which is the correct way?

Thanks James, The latest v3 does have a slight change when laying the exit tile, we just simplified it so you only lay it after the last tile laid (saves all the shuffling into two stacks). The game can be played as shown in the video or as described in the v3.0 rules. It makes no difference to the game play. Hope that helps:)

Hi, I've got the game a few day ago. In real all the characters have a 1 minus action point. Example: the Dwarf, have on your card a total of 4 square numbers simbol, and if start with a cube placed on number 4 I have in total 3 action point and not 4....is correct?

This is correct. The final hitpionts for the dwarf are designed to show how hard it is to kill the tough dwarf. Hope that helps.

@@gunpowderboardgames ok I understand this. I referred to the cube on the the AP lines. After the 1 I have another AP, the last, and then move the cube on the 5? Right?

@@simonebarbato9877 Yea I think @Gunpowder Studios misunderstood the question. The Healer here has 5 AP. When he uses the last AP, he moves the cube off the card (as you can see at @4:19). What they should have done is have a "0" box since 0 is a valid value (no more action points). It looks like they fixed this in the next version (Bag of Dungeon 2: The Cursed Forest) now on Kickstarter.

@@grishnakh303 You're right Brian, my mistake and yes you move it off the bottom. In BoD2 (and any reprints of BoD1) we have now added a zero.
