Potential new player here, great video so far I am only 15 mins in and I find it funny that it's set 175 years into the future and the whole world degenerated into using inches instead of centermeters :D EDIT: Ok just finished the video, very grateful now I feel like I can tackle trying to read the rulebook again without getting information overload. Wish me luck.

Thanks man! Really helped me get back into Infinity after a few years. Weird how I mostly have memories of the game being really complicated but it actually wasn't. Or maybe you just explained everything so clearly that I was surprised :D

Really great video. I just recently saw the minis and wanted to know more because they're so cool. I was already planning on getting some models to paint, but now I'm really excited to start collecting and playing the game. You made it really easy to understand and did a good job of conveying the dynamic action as a selling point for the game. Thanks a lot, can't wait to get into the game.

Thanks for putting all the time and effort into this and making it not sound like a complete drag. I still haven't dipped my toe into Infinity yet but this will be a good resource for at least going in somewhat prepared when someone is running me through my first game.

That's a very dumb idea, it's not a one way or the other thing, the best is to do both. TBT provides things IRL can't sometimes, and IRL provides things that TBT can't sometimes.

Does the -3 to dodge when reacting to a model activating in zoc applies to all skills? If I move into the zoc of a model that cannot see me, that model has to pass a ph-3 Dodge to turn right?

Question.... on a face to face roll where my Ghulam say needs a 5 or less to hit vs someone who needs a 14 or less. If they roll a 10 and I roll a 3, would I win because I’m only two away from my target number and they are four away from their target number, or does the higher value automatically cancel our my lower number since I didn’t crit?

The 10 would win. It doesn't matter how far away you are from target number, it only matters how high you rolled and whether or not the roll was exactly the target number (crit) or not :)

I wouldn’t be too worried about being outnumbered this is a spec ops game, if you play right, I think 7, or 8 models could take 15, I would take quality over quantity.

Can anyone link me to the first terrain photo at 4:24 with all of the Japanese style terrain? Or does anyone know where to get some of that terrain, or who originally built that table?

Are these rules still the current rules? Another thing, when f2f attacking. If let's say the attacker rolls a 10 and the other the 4. Does the 10 mark who attacks first or does it mean also that the other person can't now attack even if they passed the roll? I think I got it just confirming. I think the lower number is canceled by the larger one

I'm a bit confused about the cover rule, which seems to be different in N4 compared to N3. In all the videos I see people play it with you getting +3 armour. But when I read the rulebook it doesn't say that anymore, it now reduces the damage of the weapon by 3. Which I guess affects AP ammo. Just wondering why everyone says it's +3 armour still?

It could be to do with the order in which the various mods are applied. So say dmg 15 AP weapon against armour 4 in cover. Apply the AP modifier first (ARM goes 4->2) then apply the cover mod (ARM goes 2-> 5). In this case, it doesn't matter if you reduce the damage of the weapon or increase the value of the armour, the two operations are equivalent because it happens after AP effects are applied.

1:12 - how many armour saves my opponent would have to make if I rolled 11 (crit), 10, 9 while the opponent rolled 9?

why is this game so complicated? It's really holding me back from getting into it. It's not for everyone, sure, but I don't really get the thought process behind creating such a complicated, convoluted "why does this matter?" ruleset. Like, I really wish it played more like MERCS did, at least that game was fast, reactive and deep, without being abyssal and tedious.

It’s the game I love to hate. I have started playing again after three years. I have two friends who love it. I am starting to understand why like the game. It is a sports game on table top and the players are the coaches. Trying out tactics and tricks to create gaming winning moves. When playing I have to ignore my gaming preferences. Ie I want to play with all my models, I want to shoot or melee with your models, I don’t want to sneak about the board. And I don’t want many special rules. With infinity I am realizing that this is a “special ops” game. With sneaky as part of the game and lots of tools( special rules or keywords) to help you create advantageous ‘plays’ and possible game winning moves. Because of all the keywords/special rules, a player has many options and choices during a game to try and win. So I am slowly learning that this game is complex and deep for good reasons. And learning to adjust my game preferences from: give me models with guns, I do not need hackers, docs, camo, hidden deployment, nothing fancy. Just going to run up the board and shoot you. …. And learning that does not work
