I love this tune. It was the third tune I learned, and was a bit too hard for me at the time. The B section being the culprit. Since folk music is a living tradition, the CutiePie variation is as valid as any other!

Excellent. Thanks for respecting ' the music of Ireland. This tune is an old Irish set dance' close to an Irish hornpipe. Keep it going. I liked your own additional ending' to the tune. I think it worked.

Thank you! :) I really struggle with Irish music as I'm very new to it and get so little time to practice whistling anyway...I have to find ways to adapt it sometimes to make it easier while I'm learning. It's a fun journey, I think it'll be a slow one for me, but i'll keep at it! Your encouragement and kind words are greatly appreciated. x

Thank you very much. Trying to master this for ages now. You helped great deal! Only thing I wish for, would be to get the whole song part without the effects. It sure sounds nice - but what I do is I try to play along to get the timing right. Unlike in the individual parts, when you play the whole song it sounds nothing like any tin whistle I ever encountered and that makes it harder for me to hear where I did something wrong or if I am just missing the effects put on thereafter.

Hiya Stephanie, I love this version of one of my favourite tunes that I usually play on Mandolin. It's not an easy one to get right, but you have done a great job. Thank you. I find that it goes really well played in a set with The March of King Brien Boru being the other. It commemorates the death of the greatest of all Irish Kings, Brien Boru, at the battle of Clontarf. I love this song and I really want to learn it but I can't say I'm loving this tutorial. I like how the parts are broken up at first but when it comes time to put it all together I wish that the whole part was showing to save having to jump back and forth constantly. it's very frustrating when i spend more time with my hand on my mouse rather than my whistle.

Cutiepie, That’s a wonderful traditional tune! I’m glad you are doing some traditional penny whistle tunes lately. Most beginners as well as some more experienced players are very happy to hear your versions of traditional songs that they have been hearing or playing for years because you make old songs look and sound so beautiful. I want to give you a special thanks for wearing an outfit that shows your beautiful perfect shoulders… Like they say… nothing beats a great pair of shoulders… nothing but your beautiful face! It has been my experience to find that if a beautiful lady looks so beautiful on video, she will look even more beautiful in person. I can’t imagine you looking anymore beautiful, but I’m sure that you do! I know I talk too much… but there is one more thing I must tell you… My dad and I was discussing my Scotch-Irish ancestry and I decided I would show him one of your videos from Scottish week… He doesn’t know anything about you or what name you go by… When he saw you he immediately began smiling and said, she is really cute! Even though it’s obvious why someone would call you Cutiepie… Will you please tell me how you came up with the name Cutiepie or who gave you the name Cutiepie.
@CutiepieTinWhistle

Yes! I love making people smile :) thank you for sharing that information, it's made me very happy! I'm glad you and your father enjoyed my Scottish video! I have a few more wrinkles in real life than on camera, haha, but I like them! I'm not sure how anyone can complain about lines that show how much you've laughed and enjoyed life! Hmm, CutiePie, I'm not sure, I just wanted something friendly, catchy and fun and that seemed to fit :) To answer your previous message that somehow slipped my net - no kids, but plenty in the family to spend time with. I just don't trust myself to keep one alive! haha

Stephanie, Cutiepie, Honeypie, Sugarpie, Darling, I just had to comment about this comment. I’m so glad you gave me an answer to the “do you have children” question. I understand what you said about keeping one alive. Cute answer. Sometimes we can’t keep the little ones alive regardless of what we do and that is the hardest part. My experience has only been with young animals and birds. Oh, and my little brother… Fortunately he is alive and well and very healthy. I won’t go into details of my successes of raising a variety of wild pets, but some were great successes. A great success is when they return to the wild and live as wild pets and have their own babies. Then bring their babies back home to visit their grand dad, that would be me of coarse. Tomorrow is Tuesday and I’m looking forward to seeing you in another beautiful video. And last, but not least, it’s beginning to look a lot like spring time here, even though the ground hog said we would be having six more weeks of winter. That ground hog is a Pennsylvania yanky so what does he know about southern Mississippi. He just wishes that he lived here. Perhaps I will kidnap him and bring him south for his retirement years. Ha ha. If you have heard of the “Groundhog Day” please let me know and if you haven’t I’ll explain it to you. Thank you for all that you do… You are a special, special and beautiful person and I love you and so do many others I’m sure!

This may seem tedious, but I wonder if there is a way to annotate on the tabs the places where specific ornamentation is necessary to maintain the transition between two notes in cases where otherwise the tune deflates. A good example of what I'm talking about is the instant between the first two same notes played at the start of Morrison's Jig.

Your channel rocks! It was instrumental (😏pun kinda intended lmao) in convincing me to get a whistle and start learning. Do you have the written music for this song? I find it much easier for me to follow along with the sheet music than the tabs. Also, I have a high D whistle, do you have any thoughts on the difference between the high and low D whistles for relatively new whistle players and brand preferences? Thanks for your time, you’re the best!
@CutiepieTinWhistle
@CutiepieTinWhistle 6 жыл бұрын
Seth Riedel I'm sorry I don't have sheet music, but you'll find it online somewhere 😊 The major difference between high and low whistles is the grip, piper's grip for the low whistle can be tough to achieve for some, whereas a high whistle is easier to pick up as play. Low whistles usually need more air too. I like Clarke whistles, MK whistles, Susato and I recently bought a Dixon, it's pretty good!
