I love Pokémon, but the Format (BOTH of them) suck right now and 500 CP is ridiculous since you have to go to pretty much every event to even have a shot at going to worlds. It just isn't any fun right now and feels more of a chore then anything

Simon Swan I think this game is great. I have played a few games and have both starter sets, customised (slightly) with 7 boosters (bought separately). I feel they need to add some cards that destroy support cards as I don't know of any cards that do this yet. Which means they just sit there through the whole game. I only have 1 card that destroys an opponent's 'Upgrade' card (like a lightsaber) which I got in a booster.

It's actually during the upkeep phase at the end of a round "to prepare for the next game round", so Steven would have lost at the end of the round as you said.

You are correct, losing from being out of cards only happens at the end of the round. Steven had lethal damage on the board, so by removing Zach's final card he knew Zach didn't have a way out. A move you might only expect from a Sith, so maybe Steven is hinting at something with Rey...

You are correct on the rules. Steven was being coy, as he was showing enough damage to win the game and by removing Zach's card there is no way for Zach to get out of losing that game.

Spirit of the Rebellion does not have starter sets, and in the Destiny panel we recorded Lukas said that every fourth set would have starters. So Awakenings starters are your best bet! As for where to find them, the game is insanely popular and the first few waves sold out. We are expecting to have more in stock at some point soon!

If it's anything like the LCG, they waited until they had a solid foundation before adding multiplayer rules. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same here.

No problem Mateusz! You are correct. If you want to run the "Elite" version of a character (two dice) you will need to collect two copies of that card/die. At least pulling extra copies of characters that you already have is worth something!

That is correct! The damage specifically have a 1 and a 3 on either side, while the shields are a little more subtle. For most decks, you won't need to use the back of the shield as a 3, but it is an option for when you're using those decks.

It is done in a way that each player has that choice. For instance, Steven is working on a Crime Lord deck, and that deck amasses lots of resources so he uses the side with 3 pips as a "3". For his Jango deck, which rarely goes above 2-3 resources, he uses each side interchangeably. Totally up to whatever you desire and what is needed to make the set as functional as possible for every player.

In our own playing we have seen certain 2-character synergies overcome the health gap. Rey + Han, Vader + Raider, Vader + Jabba, Luke + Ackbar - these kinds of decks have such strong tools out of the gate. The key is to control those early turns. You have more dice on the table for less actions, so use that to your advantage.

So this is kind of a funny scenario, the rules states that when you have no cards left in the hand by the end of the round and you are unable to draw new ones from then deck, you lose. So in this scenario Steven did it just for fun, but if he actually had no way of killing Zach's Kylo, this would have been a huge mistake because the rules say that the player that controls the battlefield will win in case of a draw. So essentially Zach could have just claimed the battlefield an won by the end of the round.

Some facings of dice have a little yellow resource icon indicating they cost one resource to resolve, as was the case here.

If I understand the rules correctly, you only get one mulligan, so it's not as all powerful as it could be.

We had similar feelings initially and then totally got hooked. We highly recommend giving it a fair shot.

I definitely will be picking up both starters and a handful of boosters either tomorrow or on launch.

Yes, and I have a printed out copy of the full rules .pdf FF provides. Since I posted this I bought a booster box. Now that my gf has better cards she has beat me twice in a row!

The Rules Reference .pdf is worth reading over and worth having at your disposal during gameplay. You can get it at the Fantasy Flight website. You don't have to print it out, having it on your phone or laptop is fine. Honestly one of the best way to learn to play is here on youtube. There are some good intro videos and you can watch people play games.

Adam Dork I have both starter decks, and all 3 times the Kylo deck has won. (I used it once and won, and then got beaten by it twice). Unlucky dice rolls can cripple you in this game!

I saw that and I understand it is a fair price on your end, considering the number of boosters you need to open to get the cards for that, let alone the labor. But from my end, I can for the same price buy most of imperial assault, a lot of x-wing, a complete set with multiple expansions of many LCGs of my choice out there. There is a reason why so many people are completely turned off to CCGs. There are many cheaper and quite frankly better games out there to play. How much more popular would have this been if it were an LCG? I realize the people who really get into this game will spend more money than the typical LCG gamer, but those same players also play other FFG products. The pool of customers and money is only so big. The sad thing is, Magic is at a low right now so FFG may do so well with Destiny they will make a few more CCGs just in time for Magic to make another come back and take a hit on those new titles. This is a good game for us to stand our ground, pull out the mace and not let FFG mug us again.
