For my Own Honest Opinion, For all the teachers that I have ever heard. You Scott has the best and simplest approach in which it makes it very easy for the listeners and students to understand. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS since 3 years ago

For those like me, nervous about doing a recital, this was inspiring. Thanks.

Glad it helped! Here are a couple strategies for playing when nervous. 1. Change your mindset - The audience is lucky they get to hear your play! You're excited to get to perform for them. You've worked hard, and now you get to share all of your hard work. This next one is going to sound a little crazy, but it's very helpful - practice playing under stress - go for a short run and then immediately pick up your sax and start playing. You'll be out of breath and a little jittery. It won't feel good at all, but this will prepare you for how you might feel when you are nervous. So run around the house or up and down the stairs a few times until you are just a little out of breath, then pick up your sax and play your recital piece. I know this sounds crazy, but it will let your mind & body know what it's like to perform under stress. So when the recital comes, if you feel a little nervous, it won't throw you off too bad.

I just came back from playing a gig at a cultural event. I was only supposed to play 1 set, but the organizers asked me to play 2; 1 before the main event and 1 set after. For the "unprepared" set I chose songs that were not difficult to play, so I could play with confidence and it went over really well.

Hey, I teach this concept in just about every song lesson in my Sax School - especially in the Early Intermediate courses. I also break down jazz articulations so you know exactly how to play the unwritten rules of articulation.

Hey Scott! Great video and the song choice is a pure classic. I’ve been in the market for a tenor sax and I fell in love with the model you use. It’s a P Mauriat PMXT-66RX if I’m correct and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. As a professional, what are the pros and cons and anything else to note that you’ve come across? Love your videos! Keep on doing what you’re doing
@ScottPaddock
@ScottPaddock Жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes, that's the one I play. I love it!! It's my favorite tenor that I've ever played. If I had it to buy again, I probably would not buy the unlacquered version of it. I think it looks cool, and it plays great, but it takes a lot more maintenance because of the no protection. Mainly the blue corrosion. It comes off with no problem, but it's something I don't have to think about with the dark lacquer saxes.
