Yep couldn't agree more - hes been my daily watch during lockdown. This channel has certainly helped over the last 8 weeks , great information, without any of the rubbish. Love the unbiased views and no over the top delivery of information. I can just leave John on in the background whilst I'm working from home and absorb his knowledge. Great advice, I went out and bought everything in this video upon your recommendation. I’ve never done a machine polish before but this single stage with the Shcoll S20 the results I achieved are better than I could every of imagined far superior to that of a hand polish. The paint now looks like new again. Thank you 😊

You should go for it 👍. The reason I went into car detailing was when I used to take my first car to a hand car wash once a month and seeing the paint badly swirled. Jon's videos helped me chose the best products and how to clean a car properly and safely. Then went into machine polishing which was scary but the results were really good. BMWs have hardly any plastics exposed which is great as there's nothing for waxes and polishes to stain into.

HI John, have admired your vids and tech info for some time, excellent presentation especially for novices. For some reason this year in our part of Aberdeen, we've had some plant debris that came from tree buds I think. Having not cleaned them off the car quickly enough, they have left a sticky residue from the bud, which having washed and now used a clay bar on, are proving difficult to shift by hand. There are without exception up to around 100 - 200 of these marks particularly on the bonnet and roof. I have a white car, and the marks being a brown, orange colour, it stands out like a sore thumb. I'm thinking to invest in a DA polisher and wonder if you could recommend a suitable combo of pad and polish. I should have mentioned that the sticky residue, has now over time become hard and solid.

Menzerna polishes are good, apart from the fact they dust up badly. Don’t know if it’s me that’s over worked them, got them too hot or what.

Fantastic video. I have done some correction with my DAS 6 Pro but it turns out there was stuff I didn't know. For a start, I can buy a 3.5" backing plate and 4" pads - fantastic! I had been toying with the idea of a 3" DA but could never justify it. As for detail brushing trim edges during the wash process ... well, I haven't been but will now! This is a must watch video for anybody new (or not so new) to machine polishing.

Question on panel wipe, can IPA be used exclusively as a panel wipe or do you need to use a mineral spirit based product after the correction stage? or is it dependent on how well it removes polish residue?

Jon. As a newbie to the detailing scene, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos. They're really helping me out without the sales bull.... My wife has a 2016 750Li in mineral white. I want to buy a machine to keep it looking good. It’s hard to tell if it has scratches or swirls but I’m sure it does. I was looking at the Torq 15DA. Looking for advice on machine, pads and products. All in one/Polish/Sealant/Wax. Great channel I learn a lot. Thanks!

Have meguiars compound, prime pad, spread around on panel but after 2 passes the compound is drying in places so its hard to buff off.

So happy I found your channel, so informative ! I'm taking delivery of my JDM STi 9 which is in a good condition but will need a good polish so i'm learning the theory on KZfaq. Thanks for the advices John!

Good video Jon. Nothing mentioned about micron levels, and paint depth gauges, i noticed, or the issues of polishing in bright sunshine, as opposed to under cover, where you can control things better. Other than that, I thought it was a good starters guide. Nice one mate.

true dat Wayne. I was gonna put something in on PDG's but i just thought it was a bridge too far for someone starting out and theres a lot of info for someone to absord here. done a video on it though. ideally all cars would have pretty good surveys done on them before machine polishing.. but reality how many full surveys are being done where say at least 50-100 readings are taken... but yer fair point well made mate.

Hi John, thank you for your excellent channel which I have subscribed to. I have decided to give my car a machine polish and am seeking advice. I am comfortable with washing and claying/decontaminating the paint. I am a little confused as to which polisher I should purchase and compound to use. Apologies if this is obvious already. Much appreciated

by the DA8 from in2detailing. Buy Scholl S20 black single stage polish. Use Flex Orange Pads for softer paint, and Flex Purple for harder paints. See description for all the products right down the bottem mate (affiliate links are used)

Nice videos keep up the good work. I was wondering if there is anybody out there that could help me please. Ive got an old Clio Sport 182 in the black gold paint and its looking a bit shite so I decided to buy some gear and have a go at doing it myself. I had a go today with hex pads and Maguires ultimate compound. I tried various pads and a few passes and it looks to of hardly touched it at all no better at all really. What could I be doing wrong? it is still absolutely full of swirls marks even after two passes and two passes with polish, I have been using a DA could it be the compound just isnt coarse enough. Any help greatly appreciated, cheers

Excellent guides, thank you! A simple question if I may, is there anything I should use to protect the finish having used a product like S20 Black to polish heavily oxidised paintwork?

You've refined the paintwork with S20 Black so now it's time to protect your hard work. Wax/Sealeants/ceramic etc

So you said I do straight lines and after vertical and this one is one step . I have to do that 4 to 6 steps at a part . I would like to ask , I do 4..6 steps , every time I finish each steps do I have to change the powder ? Or keep going with the same compound or I change .? And after every part is finished I clean my pad right .? Sorry but try to understand cause I don’t speak so good English
