Question: What if you have buttons but they haven't started regrowing their roots yet? Would you still put them on top of a layer of sand, or would you put it directly on the potting mix in this case until the roots start to come in? (Also, any tips for getting cut buttons to sprout roots?) Thank you!

Thank you very much for the information. It will help me greatly. Do you have any sources of buying L.W. cactuses. I'd really appreciate it as i intend to help the scarcity of these indigenous plants that continue to be harvested improperly. Unfortunately many people don't understand how long it takes for one button to grow. Or even cutting it at almost the bottom of the button out in the wild killing the plant and making this magnificent specimen of cactus more scarce. Which is truly sad and unfortunate. what do you think about 100% mineral soil?

How about planting 3 or 4 on the same pot? Also when watering the sand start to sink untill it finally comes through? Thats what has happened when growing from seeds and soil has sand in it. I used 25-35% sand in my mix.

How do i get my cuttings to root? I have a lot of buttons that need saving from a graft that i was gifted, and need to repot them.

What about using acloth pot? I just recieved 2 buttons, should they be potted separately?

Where do you get your sand? I have sand from the beach. Would that be too salty? Thanks
