Few years late but thanks for the video, I couldn't figure out that the red(switch) and yellow(power) wire both went to the yellow wire from the power supply, I actually connected this and two old headlights from my S10 as spot lights and I have a few more ideas thanks to you!

Just did it and it works! Now I'm going to the store tomorrow to get me a switch and some extra speakers. And some MDF and spray paint to make a nice case for it. Thanks Timmy Joe ^^

Good video. I used a old laptop power supply which spits out clean 14V. A car stereo can accept up to 14.5V (since that is the actual voltage when your car is running). The laptop power supply has an advantage of being smaller and has its own cord. I was able to use my double din off brand stereo that worked great, had bluetooth and a remote control. I may build a little box and turn it into a radio for my kid dorm room.

would it be a good idea or would you suggest using the 5V lead for the memory wire to get constant power? I am planning to do this in a simple boombox format and plan on leaving it plugged in when not in use with a switch on the red wire to fire the radio up (as if turning on the key).

Is it possible to power the radio without a switch cable? My car is pretty old and doesn't have such cable (or I can't find any switch cables)

Bro i have a Kenwood kdc U446 car stereo player ( cost around $200) . I'm using a computer SMPS too. But here i have problem. When i turn up the volume more than 40% Front LED panel starts kinda blinks like insufficient current , and if i turn the volume up a bit more, it shuts off then turns on itself again. So I can't play much louder. Is kenwood kdc u446 requires more amps in 12 volt or is this some internal problem? Because when i tried 5 amps transformer power supply , volume goes up to only about 20 percent and then shut off and restarts.... I think my pc smps give 15 amps in 12V as written in the smps manual

Too much hassle and it looks messy. I actually looked up this video because I am tinkering with a 10.1 in 2 gig PX3 double din older Android head unit. Unfortunately it's not the 4 gig 64 gig px6 Octa Core variant. Anyway, I would have purchased an inexpensive ONN Bluetooth speaker from Walmart instead of the old computer PSU and old school single DIN Blaupunkt looking radio from back in the day. Or I would have purchased a $5 Bluetooth adapter from Five Below or eBay and found a decent 5.1 receiver from Goodwill, Salvation Army or any of the thrift stores around town for about $20 + $20 for the five surround speakers and another $15 for the powered subwoofer on average 😁.
