Is it solid yellow, because I don't see one - my yellow has a thin (green?) line running along it?

Can you test with just negative & positive wires or you have to hook up the yellow wire also?

Right. To us. But to the components yes. Just make sure to isolate wires. Use some electrical tape and make sure no speaker wires touch each other. If they are not new and already have the shielding off just electrical tape to isolate. Following that this is 100% safe for the radio (and humans)
