Fireforge Games has a lot of affordable Knight models, for those looking to start a Bretonnian army. The products are spread out a bit on their website, with some being found in various historical periods, while others under its Fantasy and Forgotten World sections. Each different "mounted knight" kit, for example, resembles each other a great deal, but with different head options. Making it really easy to make your Knights Errant look distinct from your Realm Knights from your Questing Knights, etc. They've got various kits for Men At Arms, Bowmen, some resin Pegasi Knights, and even Peasants. (They've also got a Peasant Zombies kit, for those looking to build an Undead army, but want the zombies to look more distinctly medieval. Or if you just don't like how Mantic's zombies look. I've built some of the latter myself, so I get it.) North Star Military Figures has an extensive selection of models just in their Frostgrave and Oathmark lines. Kits that are fairly flexible in what you can build. I've started my own Beastmen force from a box of Frostgrave Gnolls, for a distinctly different style of Beastmen. They've got many of the fantasy staple armies, like Humans, Dwarfs, Elves, Goblins (including Wolf Riders), Undead, etc. I think one of the only problems with their kits is none seem to have a Musician option. So you'll need to kitbash parts for that yourself. They do have loads of metal models to help add variety or act as important character models, though. I would be remiss if I didn't toot the horn for Wargames Atlantic. Their products are fairly more eclectic, as they come out with products piecemeal. But they have plenty of historical and fantasy plastic kits. Skeletons, Goblins (which can combine with their Giant Spiders kit, for Spider Cavalry), Lizardmen, Halflings (if you wanted to run an Empire army by way of the Shire Moot), and even Landsknecht Ogres (if you want a much more Empire or Dogs of War flavored Ogre Kingdoms army). Or you can raid the historicals, for alternative Empire, Araby, or Chaos Marauders (via various "barbarian" kits) models. (Using "barbarians" as Chaos also makes kits from Victrix Ltd. a decent choice). WA even have a dedicated Horses box, if you've got a lot of riders lying around but nothing for them to ride.

For the base issue guys just mdf 2mm bases with the correct dimensions and blue tack your old minis on. I find the base size the smallest issue of all. Really looking forward for this New Old World

Index carding and TTS are great ways to try out new armies for old players too

Nice video. I have a large high elves army all ready to go, but I definitely want to build a new army once the game launches and I get to see the core rules, army specific rules, new minis, etc. I hadn't really considered using index cards to try out a new army before committing the money and painting time into it. I will probably use my existing army as proxy models for a new army once or twice in order to see if I like how they play.

Played fantasy when i was quite young, i currently play 40k and have no interest in aos. Looking forward to old world, ill probably get a army together for it but i am interested to see what the rule set looks like.

I have...a lot of armies from years ago so GW will have to release things that I couldn't get otherwise to get me excited. I know I keep saying this but if they go crazy and release Dogs of War I'll get a second job. Who knows what direction they are going otherwise.

I have a situation. I used to play dark elves as a kid, but since the game was kill I converted my corsairs into aeldari corsairs for kill team, mi witches into Escher gangers, my black guard into redemptionists, my dark riders into rough riders, and my hydra into a necromunda swamp monster XD. So I don´t know if I should simply start an army from scratch, tomb kings have some cheap mantic proxys I could buy, and I almost started collecting Khemri as a Kid

I’m brand new to war gaming, just got ASOIAF Lannister starter set and I’m about a quarter done painting the minis, where would I begin to look for a starter set or box set of warhammer the old world minis, are they sold yet or will they all be re released later this year when the new edition comes out? I want to get started but I haven’t been able to find them anywhere

Table top Simulator! 20$ or so and yo ucan dive into the workshop mods to gain access to the Warhammer 8th edition stuff! other then the base cost of 20$ the mods are free and they mimic 8th edition no problem! you can literally play entire games on the computer. what better way to test out if you would even want to play such a game for a lvl 3 person?

What about all the people who have all their old armies but didn’t have someone to play with? 😢

Regardless of aftermath, Sigmar was the best move they could have made from a business perspective. Just a massive overhaul that made their models and game more appealing to a much broader audience. No other fantasy game comes close, aside from D&D.

I would say, if you know what army you want. Find some CHEAP 2nd hand models of that fraction and paint them now.. Some kits will come back, some will be new. But if you like the old and can get them for cheap. Start now. then your army already have history and you can practice painting on them..

Step 1. But Warhammer Total War series. Step 2. Scoff at how much 3 games and all DLC costs. Step 3. Remind yourself, cheaper than single TT army from GW still.
