Thanks for this - definitely the simplest roller solution I have seen. Commercial products run at $10 a foot length in the US where as 2 inch pipe is under $20 for 10 feet so 1/5 that price. For shorter sections you could probably use smaller diameter too. Test a length and see how much it bends but 2" (5 cm) diameter seems about right.

Your husband is very clever and handy. Your cat looks sweet but mischievous. My cats can't be trusted not to jump deck rail. I've been looking for ideas of things I can do myself but I am not clever and don't have many tools besides a butter knife & my high heels but I do have a dremel. Thank you for this video and the interesting idea.

Thank you for showing a roll bar that doesn’t contain a small bar and a wider bar (like most construction are made). Your idea is a lot cheaper and doable: even for me; a widow mom of two without handymen around. The trick though to have a round wooden piece inside the bar is challenging: I didn’t get how you cut them out into a perfect fit (stupid me will have to watch the video over and over again)🤦🏻‍♀️

hehe.. Thank you.. I use caliper to measure pipe diameter.. Or you can draw piping size direct on wood. Then cut follow the drawing. Use sand paper to rub around the wood to fit inside the pipe.

Loved your video and how you did your system with the pipes. But I wish you would write the steps down for us. Video was hard to see what he did to the ends of the round wood once he had them in there with glue and how he cut the round wood. For beginners, would be nice to write down the details that is often missed by speeding up the video. Thank you for the idea. But if I can get more details on those parts I mentioned would be wonderful. Also how he put the ends up, like how he attaches them to the wood part.

Thank You so much for your appreciation . first thing, for the rounded wood i use jig saw like what you can see on video. just cut the wood use jig saw follow the marking you had done. After finish cut, use sand paper to make sure the wood surface can fit inside the pipe. Second, After i glued the wood inside the pipe, i used small nail to make sure the rounded wood is really hard attached to the pipe. After that u need to make a hole center of the round wood (the hole must be bigger than screw/nail you use to attached to the wood later).. Third, how i attached the roller to the wood.. i just cut 3X1 inch wood( depend on your fence size)After that, i used screw size 2 inch to attached to the 3x1 wood.(or you can use 2 inch nail to attached the roller to the 3x1 wood).I think its really hard to explain without video..hehe...so i decide to make 1 video later to explain how i attached the all things...make sure u follow my next video..i apologize to my first video. i hope i will make 1 video that can help you and other people later...i will try to make as soon as possible....

Ele colocou um parafuso no centro do diametro do tubo sendo assim o tubo gira pelo centro do diametro. Voce pode usar a ideia e usar garrafas pet, perfurando o centro do fundo das garrafas pet e as colocando em linha sobre um fio, corda ou vareta de bambu ou barras finas de ferro.

I seriously doubt this would stop a determined cat. The cat can climb to the top rail of the gate, and then simply jump over the roller.

Every cat need space to climb ,and after climb he also need a space to jump. Cat not like a spiderman..hehe..That why i put a small vase with leaf and put a net around the vase. U need watch the video again for more detail. Just pause the video and zoom it , see the detail.

Does anyone understand how he got them so close together? When the first one was up you could see the screw sticking out. When they butt up against each other where did that screw head go? And what space was there for a screw head going into the other one next to it?

If you look closely there is a fence on the other side of the pots.

If you look closely, where the pots are, behind them there’s A brown gated fence like. Looks like it’s made out of wood, maybe hard to see it, So the cats cannot jump over where the pots are.

It will not work, the roller less spin, use bearing, should easily spin like fidget spiner

why just not to use end cap (1.5$) rather than diy round wooden thing....

An end cap is probably not thick enough to support a nail without it just wobbling around. It might work. I would probably use a bolt or piece of "all thread" with nuts and washers at each end to keep it snug. If it doesn't spin well I'd use a piece of busing where it passes through the support bracket, or file down the thread to be smooth.

i just show the real roller that u can buy at any online shop.. its up to you...my cat fail to climb the fence right now and i happy with my choice and my work.. Nobody paid me for my video and my work . I m just sharing.. until now, i still using this roller...

Thanks for your feedback. My cats don't want to try it anymore after failed to jump several time...it just happened quick in front of us.i don't have cctv to record the situation.😅 Now my cat is getting to fat and getting sleepy every time.just eat and sleep...🤭
