Just fair warning: if you're building a quad for flight performance with like a Betaflight/Kiss/Emuflight type flight controller, no carbon fiber infused filament is going to replace carbon fiber plates for the frame. It's just not gonna happen. Another thing to be aware of with CF infused filaments - they're not all created equal. I dunno about Bambu's, but there's a big difference between having ground up CF powder and actual CF strands. 3dxtech has actual CF strands in it, and it is MUCH stiffer than others I've tried.

I have a tiny drone with a broken frame. Hopes are not high and I am not using it to qualify for DRL. lol Others can learn from me either way.

I worked for NikkoRC and designed the DRL toy racing drone with Betaflight. Frame vibrations can ALWAYS be tuned out. You can make a drone out of Popsicle sticks if you wanted to.

@@kazikoFPV Yeah, you can apply tons of filtering and what not to make it flyable. That doesn't mean it will fly remotely as well as a quad with drastically less resonance. The flight characteristics of a carbon fiber frame vs a carbon fiber infused filament printed frame won't be remotely the same was all I was saying, and just making sure there was a reasonable expectation of that.

@@kazikoFPVyes but that is done with additional filtering, too much and the latency results in bad propwash and horrendous pid Latency.

My rfid does not read PLA CF at all. I tried different spots in AMS. The only thing I have different than you is a 0.4 nozzle, would that be the reason it does not read CF?

It came with the filament. All of the CF filaments come with the high temp spool. I haven’t seen a refill option for them yet. I printed one from the preloaded files on the printer and it worked fine for a refill of the PLA Basic. Have you tried that one?

Bambu Labs says you shouldnt use carbon fiber in the AMS. learned this that hard way the day after I printed with CF the first time, the released that statement.

printing petg cf on my p1p right now, and its coming out pretty rough. I tried some nylon cf pa12 about a week ago, and it was amazing. I'm not sure I like petg cf now... nylon is superior....

🤘BITCHIN🤘 Didn't know you're a pilot, I fly as well... but not well🤦‍♂️I tried printing frames back when the "toothpick" quads started, using nylon on my pimped out old school original ender3, with poor results. Used petg also, then just bought one🤷‍♂️ My BLX1CC will do the job, maybe I'll get back onto flying again! I have some wicked birds on the shelf. I think i have some vids on my channel showing some of my toys.

I don't seem to have ANY luck with PETG-CF. I get constant buildup filament on the nozzle which ruins lengthy prints. I have dried it and tried hours of settings from reddit and youtube to no avail

.6mm nozzle?
@cameronheinricks8571

I have the same issue, 0.4mm nozzle, tried reducing flow to 93% as support suggested, tried lowering print temp by 5f as suggested, dried to RH 5%, i will admit it lowered the size of the blob but it still builds and any print over a few hours is problematic. I asked another P1P user and they said go way lower like 230f instead of 255 profile or 250 according to the wiki, he also suggested making sure the side fan is off, and the door is open for more ventilation, going to try this next. I will say I am disappointment in support and bambu for not having a closer tuned profile, having to spend $ on filament to basically remake a profile from scratch is terrible cost wise and time wise not to mention the user experience thats supposed to be so fine tuned.... I found Crealitys profiles to be much closer and easier to figure out for everything from pla and petg to ASA and ABS, on my k1 max, and ender 3 sonic pad.

My experience printing with PETG-CF, a number of years ago, was that it was very stiff. Could your stiffness be related to fast printing speeds?
@lendizzle77
@lendizzle77 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how those are related.
@skyrider4789

I think you're saying this because faster speeds sometimes = weaker bond of layers, maybe causing more flex?

IMO PETGCF is not choice for drones its better to use PA6-PA12 CF these guys making EZPC are not 100% pc but a blend of PC same for PETG modifiers and other additives are also used to aide the process in FDM thus why your "old petg" is stiffer but is way more fragile under splits and fractures over others just like pc a real roll of PC CF like lexan by sabic is 250$/kg but is 3x over the wanna be PC or EZPC in most areas. the only thing CF or GF does is increase the Z layer adhesion and improve the weight and stiffness while decreasing the x and y strength with composites

Don't reuse the silica packets the come with the filament. Those have already done their job and should be considered spent.

You can heat them and the silica will release the water vapor. Just chuck them in with your filament when you dry it.
