In today's video I teach you how to pro hop.
ballerbootcamp.com/bne -- Join the ELITES!
The pro hop can be broken down in a few short sentences. The first thing you must keep in mind that the timing of your last dribble is very important in order to be able to cover the most ground possible. You want to slam the ball and jump off the opposite foot at the same time. Something that's not covered in the video is that it's good to gather as well so that you can really change directions.
Once you're in the air make sure to rip the ball over high and turn your shoulders to shield the ball away from the defender. Finally, the last part of the pro hop is to land with your feet at the same time. If you do that correctly you won't get called for a travel and you now can pivot with either foot.
I hope you enjoyed the video today and if you did please go to my channel and check it out as I have a ton of other basketball drills, basketball moves, and even complete basketball workouts on there.
Thanks for watching and have a great day.

Augie Johnston

Hi, I don't think you're allowed to pivot after the pro hop (at least in FIBA) : "Art. 2. A player who catches the ball while moving or dribbling may stop and establish a pivot foot as follows: a. When both feet are off the playing court and the player lands: 1. Simultaneously on both feet, either may be the pivot foot; 2. On one foot followed by the other, the first foot to touch shall be the pivot foot; 3. On one foot, the player may jump off that foot and simultaneously land on both; neither foot can be the pivot foot." Anyway, great channel with good videos and usefull tips, thanks !

Good video. Thanks. I see some players in pick-up game driving to the hoop, pick up their dribble, take their two steps, and then jump hop. I called travel, and they got mad. Did I not make the correct call?

This is actually really interesting because once you take 2 normal steps, you cannot pivot. Chances are, it would be too awkward to do anything besides go up into a layup or immediately pass them ball.
