Just did this on our 2012 G37 rwd today. Car has 87k on it. Posted a video as well. Will do another 4.2qt drain in about 1k miles, then a 3rd drain in another 1k miles. That should leave us with about 85-90% newer fluid. The fluid we drained out today looked like it was probably the original fluid from when the car was new, as it was a bit on the brownish side, but not too bad & no bad smell either. Car works great! Hit 142mph the other day on a closed road in Mexico...

Hi, Thanks for the video! This was the only video that showed the straightforward way of changing (not full fluid change) the transmission fluid on an Infiniti! One thing that isn't clear from the video is that did you get any fluid coming out of the fill plug (when you cracked it open first) and if so, how do you manage to prevent fluid loss when replacing the fluid back from the fill plug?
@mastertech6049 Жыл бұрын
This video shows you the process of changing the transmission fluid without needing to let out the extra fluid as I measured exactly how much came out and you just put the same exact amount back.

Our 2012 G37 rwd has 87k on it & for sure I am going to swap the fluid out this weekend. Was considering doing the filter as well. Do you recommend the filter as well at 87k? It's a LOT more work and lots of bolts to make sure do not get over tightened in the process.

If only 4.2 qts came out, that is less than 1/2 of the fluid total so you will need to do this procedure two more times after driving a bit to get about 85-90% of the old fluid out. I did that with another car, made vids and posted a video showing the difference in color from 68k fluid, to 5.5 qt change and then the other 5.5 qt change on our 08 Saturn, has a drain plug and dipstick for filling and checking levels. The fluid is now almost looking like new color and perfectly filled, but the shift solenoid is stuck causing down shifting issues and the trans has to be pulled to get to the valve body when I will also change the filter out as gunk is no doubt the cause.

Did you really need all those upgrades for fbo or just wanted to? I couldn't imagine needing to upgrade it that much if you're only adding like 30hp
@mastertech6049 Жыл бұрын
the IPT transmission isn't needed for power but it is a support mod because once you go FBO, the stock transmission won't be able to handle that power.

@@JuanGarcia-rh4zx, you have to pick and choose what you want for your car. Motordyne TDX shockwave exhaust and pick your headers. Of you go ISR or PPE longtube headers to Motordyne TDX shovkwave or you go standard headers, ART pipes to Motordyne Shockwave. Simple K&N air intake or Takeda or another cold air intake. Get some light weight pulleys and a Kinetex intake manifold.

I haven't removed the oil from the transmission yet , but I did remove the fill hole bolt front one not drain bolt on rear and to my surprise it poured out lol..obviously I figured that would happen... is that what I'm to expect after I drain and refill.. bottom fill seems like that was the dumbest engineering idea ive seen... enlighten me is it supposed to pour out while you try and plug it back up??
@mastertech6049 Жыл бұрын
make sure the car is leveled, the car is on, and at operating temperature. Open the fill hole, let the fluid drain until a bubbling stream of fluid starts coming down, once you see that, screw the fill plug back in and that’s it
@SportsMusicCars3 ай бұрын
@@mastertech6049 Would not that cause the fluid level to be a bit low from what dripped out then? Sans a dipstick, it's really not possible to tell 100% the level. Our GM 6T70 trans in our Saturn Aura has a dipstick so with the car hot, the level can be verified with accuracy.
@jonathanc85133 ай бұрын
thats weird, what if the level became low by itself? putting back the same amount would still make it low.. starting to think that its probably best to put back the same oil quantity and screw back as soon as possible, i thought this was the whole idea not to wait for bubbles

Add some Lucas stop slip, usually at that mileage the transmission is used to a thicker fluid due to all the gunk and metal shavings in the fluid, so if you want to have a clean fluid, replacing 1 qt of atf fluid for lucas won't hurt it.
