How To Pull a Honda Steering Column

If you need to get a steering column out of a Honda, this video is for you. There's a few electrical connectors, and you may need to remove the ignition switch. Once you've done that, the rest is pretty straightforward. You may want to get help from a friend on this one so you don't drop a steering wheel on your head. Just sayn.
If you're not familiar with Pull-A-Part, they're a self service salvage company in the US. They have 25 yards in 12 states. I'm not just saying this, but they've become my favorite place to go for salvage parts. I suggest you check them out.

Very useful video. As an aside, I noticed the black driver's foot rest. I know: easy to remove (Allen key). But how the heck is it reattached?

I needed to know if I have a used coulum installed with the key it should start right up once it's installed right the doors and to the key has to be programed do it can open the doors

I should just change the ECU too. The scanner has been telling me it's bad since I bought the car 10 years ago lol. They're just too expensive.

Took out my steering column in my 2012 civic lx and now when I reinstalled I have a VSA light and power steering light. Any ideas???

I have a problem. My steering column is crooked. When I put the column cover on it’s shifted to the left. How do I twisted back to the center. 98 civic sedan.

** HELP ** Why did you have to install a new steering column in the first place ? I know it was bad but why ? I hear a clunk turning my wheel left . I've seen people put grease do you recommend? Or could it break while driving ?

Since your a Honda guy and this video is about steering columns I'm curious if I can change our 04 Honda Odyssey over to a 2000 Odyssey column that has a non chip key and just tuck the immobilizer with chip under dash

I hammered away at those sheer boats bolts for an hour and couldn't get them to budge even a tiny bit. Not enough room to get a drill in there to drill them out either. Now I'm just stuck.

my 92 accord have a thinner steering wheel. does that mean it doesn't have an airbag? it's an lx model trim from Canada

If there are writings on the steering wheel like "SRS" or "SRS airbag" it does have airbag, otherwise it does not.

Why not use a small screw driver on the interlock by the shifter?

That is a great and easier way to do it, but everything needs to come off anyways or the junkyard will nickel and dime you for everything that's not the rack! (for example the ignition switch and the combo switch)

That only works to move the shifter not the steering wheel.

This is a question more than a comment. What would cause the steering wheel to just free wheel?

The ignition switch has a key that locks onto a slot on the steering shaft. Once you loosen the top clamp and remove the ignition module the column is no longer locked.
