I work at a Feedlot and I have a lot of organic matter, hay feed and such on the roads how would you go about dealing with that? Mix it in or try to remove as much as possible before grading? Thanks for your expertise!! You’re videos are always helpful!

If it’s super heavy organic material I’d try and remove as much as you can then just work it and you will have some stuff in the gravel but will rot out in your maintenance windrow pretty quick would be my advice for ya happy to hear your finding the videos helpful thanks for watching.

Do you think that 3/8 inch minus limestone gravel down to dust is a good surface material versus 3/4 crusher run?

I’m not very familiar with limestone but the little I have worked with it it crushes pretty easy I’d recommend you go with the 3/4 ideally you have some good binder along with the 3/4 limestone and you will have a great road surface.

Do you plow snow with your mold-board extension?

Yes I do plow snow with it with these new machines being 6 wheel drive and the extra weight and horse power really no need to take extension off.

Might be a dumb question, but what did you actually press to release the pin? I’m new to these machines

Not a dumb question at all I pushed the button to release the center link pin if you look in your operators manual it will show you where that switch is thanks for watching.

i have to blade a oil field road tommorow very narrow raods with sandy dirt to work with some of the material is good but some is not any tips, and roads turn and and up down hills, its not just a level good road, and im using an old 80.s motor grader i cant figure out how to move the saddle over to reach the dirt easier, what does it mean to put ur grader in float does that mean have the board down on the ground, and then unlock the pen to move it over?

You won’t need to pull your saddle pin if your just blading the road so don’t worry about that I’d be amazed if the pin would even unlock on an older machine if the pin hasn’t been pulled in awhile as far as the road goes try and get a 4% crown on the road the spots where the material isn’t good there’s not much you can do there unfortunately try to keep a good crown and that’s all you can do good luck hopefully this helps you out

@@graderman140m thanks for quick reply yea its hard to pull a cown the raods as wide as the blade prolly even narroow than the blade and the side are taller then the road if that makes sense theres not ditches

@@sidhenry6422 I gotcha yeah that pretty tough to work with then I take it must not see much traffic then I guess what I would do is try to get a crown in one direction of the road so it kinda sheds water but with no ditches and that narrow not much you can do with it

@@graderman140m yea i see ur point we do have diversions that let the water run in the pastor, but yea ill have to take a pic and post it sometime or something to show u the road it only goes to different oil wells so its not the best material or roads, all u can really do is pull the material in to fill in the wholes but i just want create a wind row, ill just pull it in without creating wind row i guess

Can you actually blade a road with it out a hole or 2 when trying to cut the quarter crowns out?

You could do that but for general maintenance grading I would recommend you leave it in the center hole position.

@@graderman140m I'll try it. We haven't bladed much all summer do to extreme drought. Got some good size wheel tracks in some of my roads.

@@brandonpadget5515 I gotcha it’s been pretty dry here also but in my opinion you still have to to do maintenance blading even if it’s dry not blading can do more harm than good

@@graderman140m if your shoulder is on the left hand side. You would move your saddle to the left a hole or 2 right?
