please note the 400 ppm limit is not for all plants/environments. I grow cannabis and frequently feed in 1000-1200 ppm during flowering, for example.

Vinegar requires a large amount that is unhealthy for plants and wildlife, most people are saying it cant be used in aquariums so it probably should not be used in hydroponic systems

1:45 Not true, it depends on the plant species. Tomatoes and some "herbs" love a ppm of 1500. Some have problems above 200. Some can tolerate seawater levels.

I made that to myself cause I’m cheese maker and make same job when makingRicotta. To adjust the whey ph livel. Normally I use acid citric to go down and caustic soda or white lime. I am so happy you confirm that. You can add seawater aswell to reduce the ph or limon juice.

Can I lower ph water, in sistem like "aerogarden", from ph8 to ph 7.5 or ph 7 Maybe with little juice from lemon ?

Would potassium bicarbonate be safer for raising pH than sodium bicarb? Only ask because I know that is the preferred solution for foliar spraying (insect and/or fungal issues)

Especially the details about your ppm's going up...however I'm using EC as my reference, not tdm's or ppm's. Your 450+ ppm (assuming it's x700. My meter lists x500 as tdm's) seems to convert to approximately .7 EC, according to my chart. The couple feeding charts I've seen indicate the lowest ppm's you'd go for is 400-800 in early veg, up to 1500+ flowering. Maybe I still don't understand, but isn't 400 ppm OK? Can the extra salts just be flushed by using a de-salting product (I use fox farm bushwhacker(sp?))?

I was thinking the same. I thought 400ppm (0.7EC) is too low or do I have the conversion scale wrong. Considering most veg vary between 0.8 to 2.4EC

10 years of gardening tells me that most a'holes making videos are far more about "making videos" than having much knowledge on the topic . I found from experience, to stabilize the PH , it takes about 24 hours.

The PPM meter, what is it actually measuring? Parts per million of ? Is it just measuring the relative electrical conductivity, and not ph related?

Most of them measure EC (electrical conductivity) and convert it to ppm. This only works if yoru nutes are typical hydroponic nutes, as the conversion is different for different nutes and if your solution is lacking somethign it can be off. This is one reason hobby systems its recommended to do a complete solution change every 2 weeks.

@@TheNoodlyAppendage every two weeks is overkill unless you have a huge plant in a one gallon reservoir. usually once a month or two is fine.

I use white vinegar on hydroponic vegeatables,it only last about a day,then it's back to basic.

I am having the same issue. In my case ph goes back up on a few hours. I can only ph down solution at pet shop in my area, general hydroponic ph down now available. Any suggestions to bring it down and stabilize for a longer period of time?

I just set up my first hydro system and have been using lemon juice confidently previously for ph down...tried in the hydro and not sure how long it took but wasn't even a week n ph went up from 5.8 to 8.4
