Thick steel plate? You made me laugh. I'm too old to cart around a metal plate and an 80lbs jack. I used a treated 2 x 12" board under the jack but it is hard to see. One end was so buried in the mud I had to dig a hole and jack it up enough to block it before I could add the jack. So mostly the jack ran on top of a 2 x 12 treated board - which is incredibly strong in compression. Way beyond the weight of an empty shipping container. No thick metal steel plate is necessary. Double check your soil load bearing capacity as that is unique to each support. Then just be safe by shoring it up evenly as soon as it clears a block.

That is heavy. You will need to check in with local extension offices on the soil load bearing. In the video it isn't clear, but I only raised mine a few inches at a time and used 18" x 18" blocks. My sandy loam can hold 3000lbs per sq foot. So, my 8720lbs empty container had 4 piers x 1.33sq/ft per block x 3000lbs supports which gave me about 15,960lbs of support. 15960lbs - 8,720 gross tare weight = 7,240lbs safety margin. Any vehicles you can drive out? If you got 24" blocks then you have 4 x 2ft/sq x (your soil load). In my case that would give 24K lbs. Still not enough. You will need center supports and very large end post piers. Lastly, look for those air bag inflatable jacks. That might get you up off the ground and they are not much and they are low clearance. If you can get it up high enough to get gravel bed 3' x 3' and then a 2'x2' blocks on that, then you might have enough soil bearing for each post. 9 x 4 x 3000lbs = 108K lbs of support. You need that soil load bearing value, and don't just use my sandy loam. Shipping containers are designed to be supported only by the end posts. You can actually put a temporary foundation under the four end posts. That is what I am doing for the moment. The number of supports will be based on the psi load of your earth. So, check with your local cooperative extension / ag office for the load value of ground in your area. But, for a quick drop, 4 is enough.

@1000YearHomes Thank you for the response. I'm probably going to go with 4 on each of the long sides..basically 1 on each corner and 2 additional on each long side..in-between. Thinking 16-18" diameter sauna tubes..4' deep with 8-10" of compacted base and stone at the bottom. I'm in northern Illinois so 4' takes me below frost level. In a way, it's very similar to how I have leveled mobile homes in the past and they never dropped or moved. Floors stayed level for years. I've ordered (2) 40' boxes and will be coring out and prepping area and concrete work before delivery. Having everything in place prior to delivery will make the drop and installation much easier.
