In this video we will break down how to read any grade rod in decimal feet. We will also show you what feet,tenths and hundredths look like on a lath and set your grade rod from a hub with a cut or fill and check grade.

You mean normal units, and then the ammerican way. I love how you guys use tenths. Just go metric and there will be at least time enough saved at the end of the day for at least 2 more beers

Can you make a video on how to make a banjo
@russellthomas9249 Жыл бұрын
@@famfam6205 banjos are great for curb grade , footings , shallow pipe grade,etc. you need a 5 , 6 , foot rod , 1 foot rod measured from the top of long rod at 90 degrees on the end,. a 4,5,6 inch bubble . level taped on top of your long rod these clowns can't help you. let me know if you need to know how to read it .

So could you use this technique on digging out foundations? Based off print and grade?
@UnlockingSecretsofTheUniverse Жыл бұрын
Yes you can. Shoot a set point, get the number off your grade rod and add the thickness of your footing. Your prints will give you top of footing elevation.

Man everything sounds so confusing but ill get it soon! So if the 1 foot mark on the lathe says “f” to fill. Does the machine operator throw dirt to fill up to that 1 foot?

Is that a FF grade?? If so you need to add the material you are using to the grade for subgrade,the way I do Here in Florida is say your stake says grade,that's finish product, Well on a grade I measure up a ft make it a C-1 cut one so I would be 12" from finish grade,Then you have to add your material thickness we usually put 8" of lime rock down so when I'm cutting subgrade and stringing it I would need to read 21 & 1/2 inches for my sub grade 8" of rock 1 & 1/2"of asphalt
@Buildingaearthmovingcompany2 жыл бұрын
So what we did here is try to make it as basic as possible which is why we left finish and sub grade out. We felt this was the first step into understanding writing on lath then get into actual story steaks. thank you for your input! What your saying is correct you definitely need to take into account the thickness of your material for grade when reading lath. We will be making another grade video here shortly.

Anything high or low of your number is a cut or fill

White ribbon is a 1’ hikeup to grade. Yellow is 2’.. red id 3’ blue is grade. Dont use white for top of curb. Should be blue at grade on stake. Peace.

Why do you use tenths and hundreds in grading?
@Buildingaearthmovingcompany2 жыл бұрын
It is easier to add and subtract decimal feet than inches or fractions of a foot. It also saves you from converting from inches to tenths when pulling elevations off a lath for example.

So f I fill and c is down ?
@Buildingaearthmovingcompany10 ай бұрын
Yes, up from your hub for fill and down from your hub for cut.

When I put a tape measure to my grades stick the inches don’t line up. This isn’t even a matter of tenths of an inch or decimal or fraction, the distance between 1 inch and 2 inch compared to my tape measure is not 1 inch.

It’s all we had on us that day. It works exactly the same, just shorter. It is fast and easy to use one of these grading a pad with a receiver.
