How to recharge AC in a car. Want cold air in your car this summer? I show you a quick and cheap way to get cold air if you have a slow leak in your AC system by recharging your AC system with refrigerant. I chose this refrigerant because the sealer in this product is a conditioner so it wont damage the ac system or the ac recovery machines mechanics use.
Refrigerant Kit I used: advanceautoparts.rt8x.net/mYA77
Thermometer I used:amzn.to/37gSSG7

This is a very good video. One tip: when you're getting ready to add refrigerant, loosely hold the hose fitting next to the charging port and use the trigger to deliver a small squirt. When you see refrigerant starting to come out of the fitting, quickly attach it to the port. This procedure flushes air and moisture out of the hose -- and you don't want either of those inside your A/C system.
@M4sterT3ch
@M4sterT3ch 2 жыл бұрын
Don't listen to anything this shade tree has to say, it's all misinformation. Your trigger method doesn't and won't purge all air/ moisture from the system. This is accomplished by pulling a vacuum on the system for a certain amount of time to pull all the air out and boil off all the moisture. A simple "squirt" method is not the answer. Just wasting your time and further inducing toxic refrigerant into the atmosphere.

This is NOT the way to top up air conditioning systems, the vital part of servicing car AC is the procedure of putting the system in a state of vacuum to remove air and moisture, this procedure doesn’t allow for that. These cans should be banned because you don’t know if the system has a leak on it and could release refrigerant into the atmosphere. Do yourselves a favour and just pay someone to do it properly.

@@DrPolarisMD Read it properly before commenting!! 1, I never said to vac a system with a leak, you should pressure test with OFN if you suspect a leak 2, I never said anything about the ozone layer, so I don't know where the conspiracy theory is? R134a is not ozone depleting anyway, but does contribute to global warming, if you don't believe this then your are mental!! I suggest you read up on air conditioning before commenting, i have been a professional vehicle air conditioning engineer for nearly 14 years, so do have somewhat of an understanding of it. Thank you for explaining the details like high vs low ports, where to find them, what the arrows on the bottle mean and how to read them, and how the temperature outside plays a roll. Thank you Chris. Your AC video allowed me to fix the AC in my 22 year old Dodge Dakota pickup. One thing I want to add here is when I first hooked up the AC bottle and pressure gauge to the AC port under the hood, the gauge was fluctuating wildly between the white low pressure range to the red over-charge range. I also noticed the AC clutch was kicking on and off every 20 seconds - which was causing the gauge to fluctuate. I was confused by the gauge behavior and I was worried the problem might be too much refrigerant in the system instead of not enough refrigerant in the system. I know too much refrigerant can seriously damage the system, so for a while I didn't know what to do. But I finally concluded there is no way there is too much refrigerant in the AC system because the AC has never been recharged in 22 years. So I forged ahead adding refrigerant as per Chris' instructions. The gauge gradually stopped fluctuating and stayed in the low pressure range, and as I kept adding refrigerant the gauge gradually moved up into the green normal area and the AC clutch stopped kicking on and off every 20 seconds. The AC now works good as new and blows much cold air. Chris should run for president.

arno maas DONT USE THIS. If you use it and you then want to get your ac serviced by a shop you will ruin their ac machine wich costs around 5000dollar. And they might actually make you pay for that. Just get a shop to fill it with fluorescent fluid added and then after its going low again you go to the shop again and they use an uv light to look for traces of the fluorescent fluid and they will find the leak really fast.

When I lived in Springfield Missouri I did my car work at a place called "417 DIY". You did the car repairs yourself, but a mechanic was there to help if you needed it. The owner told me that many of his customers are women who are tired of being ripped off by auto mechanics who charge more and prescribe more unnecessary repairs whenever the customer is a woman.

I spent basically 3 summers driving my car without a/c because of all the refrigerant leaked out and I didn't want to pay hundreds of dollars to recharge it or fix the leak at a local mechanic shop. Because this isn’t the right way. At the very least you need manifold gauges so you can see the high pressure side. He shows the right way in a newer video where he has replaced the compressor. Without seeing the high side you have no idea what it’s doing. The low side could look ok but the high is going way too high because of another problem in the system.

Hello Chris, I have been a follower of your content for many years now, and there have been multiple times when one of your videos have guided me to fix something in our cars, I cannot be more thankful for how much you have helped me and so many other people through your videos. Regarding this particular video I want to point out an specific thing you said in it that helped me a lot; after rebuilding the HVAC unit in my truck, I noticed that the compressor clutch was not engaging, I was unsure of trying to recharge the Freon because even in the kit instructions said that the compressor must be working, but my common sense was telling me that the lack of refrigerant could be the cause of the compressor not engaging, I didn't knew what to do, and then I remembered about this video, and in it you mentioned exactly what I was thinking! and then I said to my wife: I just needed Chris to said I could do it. I started recharging the Freon and the compressor started working immediately! Thanks Man!!!
