Worst thing you can do is bring parameters down to quickly, cyano and Dino heaven, lanthium chloride brings it down quickly with a great skimmer but it doesn’t solve the route problem

Thanks for your comment Peter, I agree with your rationale and did some extra research with a few reefers who have used it for years... two of them keep wall to wall sps and have followed this regimen for a decade with no ill effects, with that in mind we will see how it goes, on all other parameters I tend to agree. I also know many reefers who do large water changes too some at 50% who as long as all other parameters match also had absolutely no problems. I will re visit it in a month to see how it goes coral wise but thanks again for your advice.

@@paulukreefer5012 a 50 % water change does a lot less than you would think with nitrate and phosphate as it’s mainly leached into the rock and sand, 50% water change you would think you half parameters, depending on how you mix it and what salt brand you use you actually mainly alter the chemical element such as kh calcium levels and maybe salanilty to an extent, phos and nitrate are removed via solution and dilution but not from the source, it’s nice to chat to an open minded reefer though, their are many ways to run a successful reef and we are all still learning how the glass box method works best for each individual aquarium :) I would go with a much smaller amount of lanthium chloride directly dripped into skimmer body where it can be oxidised much better and have much greater contact time, then when it’s under control start using something like fauna Marin 00.4 if you like the chemical route or a good refugium or algae scrubber/reactor to maintain a more consistent levels, anyway happy reefing mate, your system is looking great 👍

It’s a controllable way of reducing po4 to an extent but one mistake and it’s going to cost you, playing with fire springs to mind…. If your using the Hanna ULR checker for po4, don’t forget that’s is has an accuracy reading of +\- 0.03ppm. If rowa / water changes isn’t keeping up with the nutrient input may be worth looking at adding a cheato reactor or fuge into your sump.

Thanks Logan. I only plan to use it when the phosphates go high and always leave a buffer.... I know you don’t mess with this stuff but have to report the results I have had. What do you use?

@@paulukreefer5012 I had an algae reactor which kept both no3 and po4 in check… but when brooks wiped out all my fish I removed it and I’ve actually had to dose phosphates to stop them from bottoming out. How does your hanna ULR’s readings compare back to your ICPS? I ended up selling mine as the results were wildly different

@@logansreef3079 hi, I don’t really want the maintenance of the reactor to be fair but I have rent wrote it off. My Hannah is usually a few ppm out so the icp was 0.03 and the Hannah 0,06

Paul, I think I love you :) just to check, in the Red Sea overflow box, you drop the product into the middle of the right hand wide see through downpipe?
@paulukreefer5012
@paulukreefer5012 3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha ...Yes that’s right Kevin, the right hand side normal return line (not the emergency) right down in to socks or Clarisea. Keep an eye on your return water level so it doesn’t send anything down the emergency line as you want to keep it all in the filter media ideally. Use half the dose first or even a quarter and check it 24 hours later... I have seen zero I’ll effects...

@@paulukreefer5012 how often are you testing your phosphate with this new product once a week? And then dose? just asking as I use nopox and looking to try something different
@paulukreefer5012
@paulukreefer5012 3 жыл бұрын
@@ryanarcher8961 yeah I test weekly anyway so when it rises too far I dose a small amount and then check 24 hours later... most who use it do it monthly but it depends on your phosphate levels. Nopox is far more effective on nitrate than phosphate. Hope this helps

Great video mate! I've just started using Quantum Lanthanum Chloride and it's not that good. I think it's such a weak solution it barely has an impact on the tank, from what I've read it's only 5% LC and the rest is RODI. I may have a look into that phosphate RX. Any idea if it's 100% concentrate or if it's watered down?
@paulukreefer5012
@paulukreefer5012 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it is slightly diluted which is a good thing as pure is extremely high risk. This mixture seems really effective it took out 0.15 phosphates instantly with 10 drops in a 425 litre (probably more like 375 litres after displacement) so do be careful👍

@@paulukreefer5012 cheers mate, I'll do a little research and see what the concentration is. I just think for the price the quantum stuff should be a little stronger. I dosed 4ml over the course of a day and it removed 0.02 😂😂 my tank is only a 250

@@paulukreefer5012 thank you. I have now started dosing this as my phosphates got too high due to me feeding too much to a hungry sun coral.
