Keeping the head down and behind the ball until well after impact allows the 2 very important moves highlighted in the video to happen. Pronation and supination of the forearms and radial deviation of the wrists. Freddie Couples does this as well as anyone and is one of the reasons his swing looks so smooth and effortless.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! After so many KZfaq videos, finally someone breaking down the swing accurately. I've been struggling with my follow through as I tend to chicken wing my left arm (lead arm). I've been trying to mentally tell my arms to twist after impact but it's been difficult. Your video has definitely helped. Adjusting my swings again after watching your video, my shots are terrible at the moment (due to the swing change) but man thank you thank you! Hey JKM, I’m a golfer in my mid 30s returning after a 10 year hiatus. I came back to a deteriorated golf swing with constant slices and everything just felt off, despite consulting various KZfaq “golf instructors”. I found your channel 3 days ago and have been following along, practicing in the living room in front of the tv lol. I watched your in-to-out series last night, and within a single hour and a half practice session today at the range, I 100% fixed my slice and re-discovered how to hit a draw. Thank you so much for your time and effort in creating these videos. You have, hands down, the best golf instructional videos on KZfaq.

I’ve watched more than my fair share of videos trying to SEE what I’m doing wrong in my downswing. Your video has shown me that I’m the golfing type that doesn’t turn my wrists over. I watch my own practice sessions and never looked at my wrists, only my arms, and they always look like the bent ones you shown as incorrect. This is probably why I tend to dip in the downswing as well. My arms seem to be both straight at address, but no matter what, every single time on my downswing, I will dip down with bent arms and push the club through, rather than hold my address position and sweep my arms/turning my wrists (with straight arms) through the shot. This is honestly amazing. Thank you so much for giving me a VISUAL.

I’m impressed… typically I won’t pay attention to a video from anyone in a GOLFTEC shirt or bay. I took lessons from GOLFTEC for almost 2 years with 2 different coaches and gained very little in regard to proper mechanics or simple explanation of things like “what is releasing the club” or these subjects and techniques that most amateurs don’t really understand. Thank you for taking the time to teach more than the “numbers “ and taking the time to explain these matters in depth.

I've been looking for a video that shows how to get better rotation in the hands through the bottom of the swing and this one described the process extremely well. This will probably add 20 yards to my shots. I can hear the difference in air-displacement on practice swings alone. I was using an extremely strong grip as a band-aid for my inability to close the face through contact, leading to a lot of pushes, but I'm hoping a few days of drills with the L to L and thumb hold will help alleviate that entirely. Two minutes of L to L's had my wrists feeling a lot more involved in a faster clubhead. Awesome content.

Then you hit me with gold when you said "player doesn't know how to accelerate the opposite end of the club". I never thought of getting the clubhead to move faster than the handle. Tried it at the range yesterday and my follow thru was automatic instead of me trying to force it. Thanks. You just changed my game in this valuable video. Been playing since 90's too and everyone I play with tells me that my swing stops as soon as I contact the ball and I need to just let it go. I just never knew how till now. Thank You!!!!

@@Will-nb8qk Yes I am. This was truly a game changer. This video along with proper footwork in this video makes you strike the ball like a pro. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fsiop8-p3Zbdeac.html I was practicing on the grass at a local range last week. A PGA instructor was teaching a class to the left of me (behind). I had my headphones on and practicing on my irons. I looked up between irons and noticed the entire class and instructor was watching me. He started saying something so I took off my headphones. He said "Thank you for letting us watch you swing. I'm telling my class if you want to swing well just do what he does" That right there confirmed I'm releasing the club the right way!

what a fantastic video. You are a very articulate instructor. As I am coming to understand the golf swing- the proper way to strike the ball- is the correct hand position at the precise instant of ball strike; and in order to arrive at this position, I must strive to ARRIVE at that correct right arm position (where the right arm is parallel to the ground). It is though I should not concern myself with working the hand/arm positions PRIOR to ball strike, but rather proper hand/arm position at those few milliseconds after ball strike.............Cause and effect, it is all cause and effect. Thank you so much

Such a good video. Simple too. I'm a teaching pro and I will say that so much of the instruction and talk of the golf swing during Pro tournaments on TV has a GREAT deal to do with why people screw this up. The professional golfer knows how to release and in most cases is trying to LIMIT the release into a controlled fade. Problem is those aims have NO BENEFIT to the average golfer who DOES NOT know how to release the golf club properly--as you are demonstrating here. BEFORE any of this HOLD or FADE stuff ever may find it's way into your swing, you HAVE GOT to learn how to release the club properly first. EXACTLY what he's showing here. WONDERFUL VIDEO. )

This is exactly what I needed to hear. So many teachers tell you to focus on the body. I am at the point where I am using a lot of body and apparently not enough arms and wrists. Your explanation of flipping in the comments helped. It’s almost impossible to supinate and pronate pre impact. I think the only other thing I may need to guard against is too much forearm rotation in the backswing with this method. Thank you. I have been lacking distance for a while and I suspect this is the cause
