Thank you for the instructions. The bottom guard and entire bumper needs to be removed just to replace a washer bottle. I wonder who designed that car. Very stupid i would say.

Much as I like the build quality and fuel efficiency of the Priuses, they almost seem designed to have owners spend much more for repairs than "less sophisticated" car designs. 1. In this case, it was to replace a washer pump - yet, one has to have access to a hydraulic lift, remove a wheel, remove a wheel well insert, remove a front engine cover AND remove the front underside mudguard! The actual part is not costly and work on the pump takes under 15 minutes; yet, if one goes to a dealership, one is billed probably for 3 or 4 hours for the disassembly and reassembly at $150-200 an hour. 2. Another routine task, replacing a headlight bulb, requires disassembly of the entire front bumper - leaving one with $300 for replacing a bulb plus the cost of the parts and tax; at that rate, one should replace all the front bulbs at once - if Toyota would refrain from simply charging double. 3. What is highly off-putting is that electric air conditioning system of the Gen 2 prius has aluminum evaporators the replacement of which requires complete disassembly of the entire dashboard; the final cost would be at least $2000 before tax and sundry for labor, but less than $1000 for replacement parts (evaporator, bypass valve etc.); that aluminum evaporators disintegrate in hot, humid weather (where the a/c is almost always used) to first have pin-sized holes, and then fail containment completely in 10 years of typical use (even earlier if one does more than 12k miles per year) is well known. 3. I almost wonder that what Prius owners save in fuel efficiency, Toyota has its dealership's service groups take from them as profit, so the money "saved" in fuel is more than spent in incredibly high service costs when just getting routine tasks for access are billed at the current local Master Mechanic rate. Either the design criteria should also include servicing ergonomics, or the materials used be as durable as the expected life of the vehicle. Until then, it makes better sense for an owner to seek such service at independent workshops where less-than- Master Mechanics do the disassembly, reassembly hours, and reserve the diagnosis and part replacement to the Master Mechanic. That's what high end restaurants do; you don't have your highly paid chef do dishwashing, preparation of foodstuffs, plating and bussing.

Thanks and well done, but Wow, that's a lot of disassembly just to remove the washer reservoir. Very bad design. Mr Toyota, surely you can do better.

Very helpful video! Thank you! We just were able to tackle this project on a 2014 Prius V. There is probably no way I would have even tried without being able to watch a quality video tutorial first. In our case, it ended up only being a cracked hose that was easy to replace once we accessed everything. The $500 quote from the shot worked out to a whopping $5 for several feet of washer fluid hose to proactively replace both the front and rear lines since it was already torn apart.
