no problem! glad I could help!...I struggled with removing this stuff for years before I came up with this method!... Works better when it's cold outside, but still works in summer as well.

@@MaddMaxx2012 Reason why everyone needs to do this is probably the same. You simply don't know what is under there. Still want a new undercoat though. But with a proper primer and clearcoat. Mostly undercoat gets thrown on there on a whim. Making it ideal for rust to prosper in all its privacy.

@@volvovalor8051 I totally agree..what looks like it is a solid floor with a sound coating of original coating protecting it, turns out to be a pocket of hidden rust and sometimes even as far as there being a hole under there and it's only undercoating with no metal underneath!..all it takes is a pin prick in the undercoating and water gets in there to rust the metal away... Personally I prefer to not put new undercoating on, I instead epoxy primer the metal heavily and then shoot it with a good quality automotive catalyzed Urethane...this way if rust ever appears anywhere again it is an easy touch up to do in the future...It may be a bit louder when driving and not original looking, but I'm willing to accept the trade off.

yup...if it was put on recently (last few years) it might be a bit more "gooey" that the original stuff...also it might be a different substance altogether, so depending on all this it might be a bit harder to take off than the original 45 year old stuff shown here...Also it's much easier to remove in cold weather as hot weather makes it more gooey as well. good luck!

As rust preventative coating and also as a sound deadener, to make the car ride more quiet.

It's way too thick to remove with only Acetone. over 1/4 inch in many places.

You're correct but you need to heat up the undercoating and strip as much as you can first then what's ever left just like in the video it is easy if you take the initial thickness out​@@MaddMaxx2012

@@markt9438 I found it went better with this tool when the coating was thick and cold. Heating it up made it a more rubbery mucky mess and clogged up the blade, while cold it stripped away better and cleaner. In Winter I suspect it would be even better

@@MaddMaxx2012 doing this today and the worst buildup comes off best with torch ,once hot enough falls off with little issue right to metal !

@@markt9438 You must be doing it outside, because initially I tried with heat in the garage (too cold to work outside, plus the car was striped down so rain was a fear) and the noxious fumes were overpowering, this method had no smell or fumes, other than the quick final paint thinner wipedown of the thin coat left afterwards
