A couple of drops of conductive graphite shielding liquid down the hole ensures good contact between the bushing and the ground wire just in case. Thanks for the very informative tutorial.

I just did this on an Ibanez RG120. I dont know if its abnormal for them to come out so hard but the pressure caused the dowel to punch a light indentation in to the (solid) body and the adhesive from the tape was ground in so that I had to scrub it off with a cleaner. Perhaps a flat peice of plastic under the dowel to more evenly distribute the pressure across the body would be a good idea?

Every extraction method I have seen features inserts that are open at the bottom end. How do you extract a Gotoh Floyd Rose insert which is closed at the bottom?

Never did see the wire or the method to connect the wire to the bridge. I will look for another video with that detail. Liked the her bolt/plastic tube extractor.

That's is only for that style of guitar. If you have a tremelo style bridge then the ground usually goes from one of the pots to the plate that the bridge springs attach to in the back bridge cavity.

What’s the reason for replacing the wells when installing a Mann Made bridge?
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772 4 жыл бұрын
proper fit... they don't all have the same thread size and diameter, the new posts won't always screw into the old wells... i replaced one bridge no problem, i'm working on a second now and i have to do this... the new bridge posts are fatter and have a sifferent thread and the new bridge won't just slide onto the old posts... the joys of modding...

I pulled out mine and apply superglue on it (CA type) but kinda thinkin that how should I pull it out again when I want to replace it?Should I heat the studs using a soldering iron and wait for the superglue to melt then pull it out?

why not epoxy the bushing/wells in to make them super strong and permanent?
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772 4 жыл бұрын
because if you ever need to pull them back out you'll take a big chunk of the guitar with it... it's not meant to be "permanent" it's meant to be repairable...
@arechj
@arechj 4 жыл бұрын
Old Dirty Tattooed Warhorse good answer. Thanks!
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772 4 жыл бұрын
@@arechj also, most epoxy doesn't conduct electricity... many guitars have a ground wire running to the bridge, on a TOM or wraptail bridge, if you look in the hole after pulling the bushing out, you can see it, you should bend it out a little before you re-seat the bushing to make sure it makes contact... so, at any rate, if you put epoxy in there, that ground wire might not work anymore, it could cause some serious grounding issues with the electronics on your guitar... i almost made that mistake myself recently, till i thought it through... i would have probably needed to pull the epoxied bushings right back out out of the front of the guitar first thing because the epoxy might make the guitar not work... i'd have been ALL mad, too... keep asking questions, you might not have to learn everything the hard way...

What size is the screw
@1777DK
@1777DK 4 жыл бұрын
Same size as the threads. 😉 You can measure the threads on the stud for the bridge or tail piece, if you have it that is.
@walther9161
@walther9161 Жыл бұрын
Better to put a dowel inside the screw the post in while the dowel keep the post from going deeper therefore pushing the insert out… no way to indent the surface using another device
@dawidwieczorek7425
@dawidwieczorek7425 4 жыл бұрын
you shouldnt hit it with hammer when the screw is in (4:02). You could damage the thread inside the stud well
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772
@olddirtytattooedwarhorse7772 4 жыл бұрын
that's the first thing i thought, too... your new bridge post won't install correctly, and then you're in for a real bad time trying to get the bushing back out again...

I cringed a little when he did that. If the screw was further in the well it wouldn't have been so bad because at least the force would've been distributed along the threads a little more, but all together that's not an ideal method.
@festushaggen2563
@festushaggen2563 3 жыл бұрын
My reaction as well. Better to sit something a little larger on top and hammer it down. Those threads are thin enough as it is.
@ohger1
@ohger1 2 жыл бұрын
If the screw was threaded all the way in, then the force would have been distributed and the screw backing out would clean the threads. But if you're really concerned, just us a shorter screw so the head of the screw is resting on the face of the stud.

The actual way is to protect the top and use a hammer claw. I once took my les paul to a well known tech who couldn’t get them out. I pulled them out quite easily this way
