You should put a DIY area in the playlist section of youtube and put the super in depth vids on it.... vs your normal vids which are fairly in depth. Great stuff!

I set my old car on fire when I was replacing the high pressure fuel pump, which was really close to the starter. Needless to say, I totally forgot step 1 and I didn't disconnect the battery and it went up in flames. I got lucky and I was able to put it out quickly and get a new wiring harness and I was able to rebuild some connections for some cam sensors but it was almost a total loss. But yeah, never skip step 1 lol.

Great video this helped me out a lot. Question Have you ever had or just worked on a gc8, i was thinking if you put your whole new drag setup in a striped gc8 i bet you would reach your quarter mile time goal alot easier

You mentioned the casings were pretty seized up on the dowels, how did you handle that? I'm doing a 15 WRX now and I can't get the cases sperated. Right now the dowels are sprayed down with penetrating oil. If that doesn't work I thought about adding heat.

What size jack stands are needed for this, is 6 ton enough, or would you recommend 12 ton. Do you know about what height the car needs to be lifted for this repair? Thanks!

Question: at 5:32 I can see a gasket for the intercooler to turbo. The OE uses an Oring. I also have an aftermarket TMIC and need this gasket. Can you tell me where you got it or a part number/mfg? Great video by the way. I am doing the clutch in a 2011 WRX in my driveway on jack stands right now.

If you have a pit or lift it's way easier to remove the gearbox. If you have your car on jack stands in wrx I would go for gearbox, in sti engine.

If you want the least problems and the easiest to work on then a 15+ is probably your best bet. Definitely easier to work on the FA than the EJ.

Anything other than an 08 WRX they are the lowest hp for its bodystyle, has a TD04 and they don't have good suspension. any year above or below that is fine, just make sure you do a frame inspection and everything if it's used from the dealer. :) Hope that helps

@@sssnake2332 I have a minimal budget. Just want something fairly reliable that I can throw a few bucks at when I have it. Maybe just a weekend car. Had a 85 rx7 for a while. But I really like the body and the all wheel drive of the WRX. The more I watch this channel, the more interested I get

@@tommyrobblee9391 I'd go for 2005 - 2007, or if you can afford it, 2011+. Personally some issues on the 2002 - 2004 are deal-breakers for me, and the 2008-2010 are my least favorite designs. Again, all depends on your budget and preferences. I really want steering wheel controls, for example, so I wasn't looking at pre-2008 models, and didn't want 08 - 10 so a 2011 was my desired year and I happened to find a low mileage '11 STI with a lot of good mods, new stage 2 short-block, and stock fuel system and turbo so it was under 300WHP, for $18k. But for a cheap hobby car, you could probably find a decent older WRX for under $8k.

my clutch is shot to shit on my 2013 wrx, I got a shop quoting me $1899 for this job, included HD act clutch kit and threw in the cylinder 4 cooling mod, and all new fluids. already paid for the parts ($1000) just saving for the labor. i just would rather prefer doing it myself I just dont have a lift 😭😭, have done similarly challenging jobs, ie: new steering rack/pinion, exhaust, intake, plugs and coil packs. I really wish I had at least a garage in rhode island.

Yo ,you skipped talking about transmission bolt to engine removal, are they reachable without tilting the engine? You spent more time on snow than the issues on removal. But nice detail on starter removal.
@anaphrodisiacxyu
@anaphrodisiacxyu Ай бұрын
you're going to need to tilt the engine before removal. it won't be possible without tilting. you can connect a ratcheting strap between the engine hanger and the pitch stop to adjust engine angle

the bolts are reachable from above and below. there are two bolts and two studs underneath. above there are four bolts.

Hey Bader! I have this rattling noise on my 16K miles 2015 STI. Recently I did the clutch (ACT Xtreme Duty 6-Puck Disc Clutch Kit), change fluids from all differentials and transmission and a Kartboy Short Shifter. Check the sound: check: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o5lymMeU0tPXh4k.html. What could it be?
