Do you need to have motorbike license or a car driving license to rent for a scooter

Great vid again Alex.. You have maybe touched upon this on other Vlogs (if so, i'll try and search back a little more extensively!) though It seems to be the norm in Saigon for Hotel's to keep your passport? I didn't experience this in Hanoi. Also, when renting a motorbike, do they require your passport, or, a copy? Cheers!
@ninja.teacher
@ninja.teacher 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've noticed they do ask for your passport. When renting a bike you can usually put down a deposit instead of giving them your passport. They could ask you for a copy of it.

Goodday, I'm trying to start a rental motorbike but with the avenger cruise 220 from Kawasaki/Bajaj here in Philippines. I just want to ask from a tourist's experience and perspective, should I go with small cruisers? or stick with the scooters?

Riding a motorbike in SE Asia is a lot different than in the US, Australia, Europe etc. The traffic is quite complex and practically speaking rules of the road are non-existent. The police will find any excuse to pull you over and solicit a bribe. As a foreigner, regardless of your license or insurance status, if you are in an accident you are automatically at fault and the effected parties will try to extract money out of you. If you seriously injure or kill someone, even if its not your fault, expect to be held by the police and not allowed to leave the country until the situation is settled. Accidents are quite common in Vietnam. That being said, you can reduce your odds of having an accident by not driving like a complete asshole. Drive at a moderate pace, stay to the right (or left depending on which SE Asian country) and be cautious. Finally, expect that someone can cut you off at any minute and be aware. Good luck.

Hello good video. I heard you’re meant to have a Vietnamese driving permit to ride bikes that are over 50cc. I know it’s something most tourists don’t do but in the event of injury/accident your travel insurance company might refuse to pay out if you’re riding illegally.

Hi Alex. How much does it cost to rent a motor bike per day in Ho Chi Minh City these days? Do I need to bring my driver license from US to operate legally there? Thank you so much in advance.
@ninja.teacher
@ninja.teacher 2 жыл бұрын
I think per day it's more expensive, maybe 150 - 250 000 dong. You need to get a local license in Vietnam to drive here (you can convert your though).

will you ever talk about teaching English in Latin America or Europe or the middle east
@ninja.teacher
@ninja.teacher 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Johnathan! I'd love to expand to Latin America but unfortunately the job market for teaching there isn't great. The Middle East has high paying jobs but the requirements are higher. I already offer positions in Korea, Vietnam and China, so planning to make videos in China when I head over there. Also stay tuned for exciting stuff coming up about Cambodia and Thailand!

Hello I'm 18 and in college , I have a question about teaching in Korea. I've been to Korea and loved it. I actually really want to go back and teach there. I have the big passion for it amd money shouldnt be a factor but I really don't want to be poor if I do go there and teach (public school prefer). My question is Does the teachers in S.K make a good amount of money. I apologize for the question not being video related.
@ninja.teacher
@ninja.teacher 8 жыл бұрын
Yup good money in Korea, 2.1 - 2.3 million won per month starting salary. You need a bachelors degree in any subject minimum.

So how powerfull bike can i rent w/o license or rather without the proper license for bikes ( i just have a B license w/o A1 or A for mc). So how about 125cc? 150-160CC? 250CC?
@ninja.teacher
@ninja.teacher 6 ай бұрын
Without a license 50cc. You can convert your foreign license to a local one at the Department of Transport though.
@AlexUncut

@@ninja.teacher is that so? In europe, in countries like italy or spain i was able to get a 125CC bike on my B driving license (w/o A1 or A2). But you mean, that in Vietnam they will say NO about 125cc bike? Or what 3xactly do u mean? And finally, if i manage to covert my Swedish license in Vietnam, it would still be B and no A1 or A2 license right? That means i am still not allowed to driver 125+ bike?

lots missing here. how about what to check when hiring a bike? how should brakes feel? the streets are not quiet where you are! what about the police stopping people, the costs of an accident being up to 85000 USD if you are at fault with no license? your driving advice isn't too sound either for anywhere outside d1. I think you should expand and do a second video about getting a license. something very important I feel if you are here working g for a long time.

Motorbikes are ok but 99 percent of foreigners don't have the correct fail safes like insurance. Bicycles of course are usually valid under accidents.

Yeah this isn't an all encompassing video. My main aim was to show people how possible it is to get started. I would actually recommend getting a license and insurance that covers motorbiking Vietnam. However, most people don't and won't do so. The main danger of riding a motorcycle here is getting into a serious accident, more so than problems with the law as usually that can be taken care of with a few dollar pay out.
