In this how to replace brake lines 4DIYers video, I replace a front brake pipe with a new section that I make by hand using simple and readily available tools. With the right pipe cutting and flaring tools, it is possible to cut and flare steel pipes, copper and Cupro-Nickel. This means, that it is possible to repair a brake pipe by making a brake pipe section and attaching it into the existing system using a connector. This makes the repair quick and easy to do as well as being a safe and long-lasting solution.
I have used the method shown in this video on quite a few occasions, often on cars that I have gone on to own for many years. Therefore, I am able to vouch for the longevity of the repair as a solution. Brake lines can be very expensive to have repaired by a local garage because the fix is often time consuming and therefore costly.

Excellent video as usual. Watching the video, I have done decission to share one good idea with you. This tip and trick will allow to do the job cleaner and more tidy. For sure , this will be usefull for everybody who is doing brake repairs, as caliper , brake hose or pipe repair or replacement. Normally when doing repair on braking system, there is a problem with the brake fluid leakage, / as seen in your video./ Recently I have found clever solution, when I was looking on the section of master brake cylinder. It is very simple and easy . It is needed to push the brake pedal from zero position to working position. Normally I use wooden stick placed between brake pedal and driver seat. This allow you to open brake system without excessive leakage and small leakage is easy to maintain Secret of this solution is negative pressure in the line which holds the fluid inside the pipe. Last time I have used successfully this during my visit in UK when I have done brake repair on sons car. Hope this helps .😁

Thanks for sharing the tip! Just to make sure I am understanding correctly: Push the brake pedal fully down as if activating the brakes and then use a length of wood to hold the pedal in the fully down position and less fluid should leak out when you break open the brake line? I will give that a try! I didn’t lose a lot of fluid but it was a bit of a pain dripping and made things slippy. Cheers, Phil

Great job ! I've only ever replaced a pipe on the 1978 VW T2, but I bought a piece about 2 feet long that replaced a section from the caliper to the first union ! So no cutting necessary 😊
