I repaired my broken wipers on my 2005 Ford Focus today using Thermoplastic.
It took around ten minutes, and is very solid, applicable to all ball and socket type wiper linkages (Fiat Punto owners, I'm looking in your direction!)
you can buy thermoplastic granules very cheap on Ebay, its a lot more cost effective than replacing the whole linkage assembly!
please comment and i'll try to answer any questions asap.

Brilliant to do it in place. I have an old, 1997 Nissan Pickup. The aftermarket parts for it don't fit properly. They changed the orientation of the key on the motor crank, and the size of the ball socket over time, and mine doesn't match. Can't find new bushings even close to the right size. I was contemplating 3D printing some bushings, but it would probably take me a couple of iterations, and some CAD and measurements time. Also considering filing a new key into the thick crank metal, but wasn't looking forward to that, and if it was sloppy, it wouldn't work. I bought a used linkage assembly, but unfortunately the bushing split open when I pressed in on the crank ball. This video gave me the confidence to repair that with moldable polyester resin like you did. If it fails, I'll remove the rest of the bushing and make a new one. Instead of an old reamed out bushing like yours, I'll find a plastic bottle cap lid, or something that is close to the right diameter, for a shell, and then mold the plastic around it. Maybe I'll include a grease zerk :) The beauty of your fix, compared to some of the other "quick fixes" is that if it ever does fail, it will be from the plastic wearing, you haven't damaged the ball at all. I don't understand why there are down votes.

Thank you for this, @Bindo. I tried it a week ago and it works! The wiper bushing ("linkage") for my car isn't sold separately, so I would have had get a complete motor assembly. Thanks to you, I paid a tenth as much plus I've got lots of fun polymorphic thermoplastic leftover to play with.

Insta Morph Moldable Plastic is the product you need. Tiny beads you melt in hot water, they form into one large piece and can be molded to whatever shape needed. For quick hardening, spray with cold water. BAM done.

Thank You for this tip, The wipers on my 17 year old Citroen Berlingo van stopped working due to the ball cup nylon Being worn, the rods rods when refitted would not remain attached... Consulted You tube for tips & found yours , remembering I had some of the thermoplastic beads in my model room did just as you described & "BINGO," not pretty but works .... Could be with a bit of fettling...

AL EXPEDITION That’s not what you need. He is using a plastic with a low melting point. You can put pellets off this stuff in really hot water (140F) or use a heat gun, and then fuse them together and form it into whatever shape you want. www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Material-Guide%253a-Polymorph-Plastic--a-thermal-/

Is thermoplastic a British word for epoxy?
@Opsecable

Nope, epoxy would jam them together, thermoplastic is a plastic with a very low melting point, i used hobbyking.com/en_us/esun-polymorph-hand-moldable-plastic-250g-bottle.html?affiliate_code=IBNUTQPMTZGZHNP&_asc=9830197500

I don't know where OP got this from, but it's easily available at ebay. I didn't find it at my local store so I ordered some from there.
