How to replace a CV joint on a Renault Clio/Kangoo/Megane/Twingo

Todays video replacing a CV joint on a Renault Clio. But it almost the same if not the shame on the cars listed below.
PARTS/TOOLS USED:

Be sure you get the right one for your car. There are more then one possibility's. Check your ABS tooth count.

This video is first class especially the info about jacking up the opposite wheel. Instead of removing the ball joint I removed the two bolts just behind the ball joint. It took me hours and much anger to get the bolts back in, then I watched this video and followed your advice about levelling the wheels and bingo it all came together easily. Thank you.

Glad the video was of use. If you don't lift the other wheel you are fighting a massive spring. Good job and some money saved, life is expensive enough.

Very good..had my cv boot clips done 8 mths ago.and had to have nsf wheel bearing replaced along with cv boot clips again!! Wrong boot clips put on my car..Fed up

If you want to get the c-clip on without too much hassle, you can wrap a cable tie around it and when you push on the CV joint, if pushing the CV joint pushes the cable tie away from the c-clip, it will be away from the recess and you can cut the cable tie when it's done it's work. Good video - thanks for putting it up.

Great video! I am also recommend beforehand put all the grease in the joint and then put it on the car. Love your working style! Success!

Thank you! Sometimes I indeed do that also. But most of the times I don't. I just spin the cv joint around a couple of times. It's less messy.

Nice video. One tip. Put some grease in the joint before putting in on. That way jou lubricate the joint right away.

Thank you. I mostly do it when installed less messy. Also I rotate the cv joint to get the grease in. I do think I cut that out.

My right axle shaft won't come out of the transmission for some reason? Is it just stuck? 1994 Twingo 1

I did yesterday complete shaft , it was pain in the ass... they told me it's gonna take around 1hour. That work take 7 hours with 2 experienced guys (some friends walk around with smile on face to ,,help" us😃) ... I never heard that much rude words about French car's 😂 . We did it and it's working well. Renault Megane

I tried popping the ball joint out of my e46 years ago and thors hammer wouldn't release it. I could never figure out why mechanic did it with no problems. I think you've just solved that mystery with your comment about lifting both sides!!!

@@TheDutchGarage thing is, my mechanic friend didn't have an answer as to why he did it so easily either. I was on the drive way for hours my. Ears are ringing 6 years later from hammering the control arm and the ball joint splitter lol. Guess he did it on a full car lift and he never realised that was why it was easy. 👏

Great video as always what would you do without mums car. I am a little confused as to why you did not pull the driveshaft out? I recently had to replace the starter on my Kangoo and needed to pull the right hand driveshaft to get access and did not have a problem. My van is a right hand drive so does this make a difference? I really cannot believe how few people seem to watch your videos and comment but its a good day when you have a new one. All the best to you and your mum.

I think it is a force of habit. Most cars if you pullout the driveshaft the gearbox starts leaking. But that's not the case with this car. I appreciate the comment and best wishes. Do something fun today!

I think mines the CV joint. It makes a clunking noise when turning but can't find anything when looked at or replace the noise. Only when moving too

If it is clunking you hear its probably one of the cv joints.. if its a grinding noise its probably a wheel bearing.

Vraagje, ik moet de Ashoes van mijn Kangoo vervangen maar dacht de as er geheel uit te halen.. Jij zegt je wilt de as er niet uit halen. Waarom niet? Loopt de bakolie er dan uit? Ik wil niet gaan rammen op de kineet daar die nog perfect is. Hoor het graag van je😀

Klopt, de bak loopt dan leeg. Dit in natuurlijk geen groot probleem. Je zou hem dan bij moeten vullen of verversen.

@@TheDutchGarage ok top, opnieuwe vullen met verse olie is geen probleem, ander vraagje, iets vreemds.... Onder m'n koppeling pedaal ligt was olie.. Van de koppeling dus want komt uit het gat waar de koppelingskabel naar buiten gaat... Nooit eerder gezien.. Heb jij een idee? Koppelt verder prima en geen rare geluiden.

What if you pop the shaft out the gearbox

No panic. You only lose some oil. So be sure to add some to the gearbox if that happens.

280nm aanhaalmoment van je aandrijfas??? Is dat serieus Renault specificatie?? Volvo S40/V50/C30 is slechts 35nm en dan 90 graden.

Torque specs kunnen inderdaad veel verschillen vanuit diverse boeken. De specs die jij geeft zijn " torque to yield" specs. De kans is aanwezig als je het zou na meten dat je dan ook rond die 280 uit komt.

this is not for Twingo, just separated the joint by shattering the parts side of that joint!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watch out what name of car models you put on the youtube title.

Really, that's odd. The parts numbers are the same for the twingo. I will look into it, Sorry for the situation you are in, and thank you for the feedback.
