Many thanks - our cord retract unit was stuck and not rewinding. Your video was easy to follow, managed to get to the retract unit and fix the issue, then put my DC09 back together again. All working great now, thanks!

Most helpful. Will have a go at repairing our cord tomorrow. Hoping that I'll be able to repair the retract unit - I must admit I'd have not found the fixings under the wheels without the help of the video

Thank you so much!I could not get the cable to retract on my dyson until I saw what happened to you when you pushed that button,thas what happened to me until I saw I did not had it sit on the casing grove at the bottom.than it worked!!!the wife is happy!!!

Thank you so much for this video, thanks to you I was able to fix my hoover at a fraction of the cost of either having it repaired or buying a new one, the cord rewind isn't working but I'll get that fixed today I know what I've done wrong, BTW I'm a 61yr old woman.

This was really helpful when replacing the entire cord retract mechanism but what if you want to repair the retract mechanism eg reseat the spring?? I am having trouble getting the mechanism apart.

Thank you just used this video to fix a dirty on off switch which had failed! It's saved me a lot of cash. The bad news is I hate this hoover!

I have replaced the cable with the help of this video but I cannot get it to go back together. The on/off switch seems to be colliding with the case but there seems only one logical slot for the switch to sit in. Do you have a video of a DC20 by any chance. Thanks

thanks for the video had no idea about the lower filter , i have question i not found an answer to about cleaning the part that takes in the dust to the canister , there hundreds of small holes few are plugged. i did something stupid the other day and vacuumed up some drywall dust , can i wash that part under the tap let the water flow out of the dust ejection ports ? ,there no electric parts on that or metal that can rust from what i can tell (dyson dc20)

Hi there. Thanks for the video. My DC19 is just not starting. It actually just start and stopped immediately. Could it be the power connection cable or some like that? BTW I love the Aussie accent, reminds me of my trip down under in Darwin, Katherine , Uluru and Adelaide ;-)

Is the cord retract the same as dc08, will it fit?
