This is an easy DIY how to replacement dryer belt video.. how to replace a belt on a Maytag dryer is not as difficult as it seems. There are two bolts on this type of dryer but the small one rarely breaks. This is a multi rib belt but unlike other older my tags the ribs go towards the drum not the other way around.
I hope by the time you finish this video you will know how to replace a Maytag electric dryer Drive belt. Knowing how to take apart a Maytag bravos 300 quiet series dryer is not a easy task. Thank you. Turns out it wasn't a belt when I got into my dryer. The tips about the push points and the tool (I have a very similar one from and different manyfacturer) were invaluable when working on it. I hadn't known about the 3/16ths on the reversible screwdriver before. I also appreciate how you just get right to business with the video.

My fan belt broke. The result is hot damp clothes and no air flow. It stops early with a 'check vent' indicator light and an air flow error code. This video has been very useful in the repair process. Thanks a ton!

Great video -- one question - when I took my drum out, the idler pulley tensioner spring fell out when the tension was off. I can see where the spring attaches to the end of the bracket, where does the spring attach on the dryer side? It's not clear in the video. Thank you!

Do not buy cheap parts, I brought my parts off Amazon came with the 5 wheels and belt.The new belt came apart after doing about two loads.So I had to take the drum and the back off again and I used the old belt.Nice and quite now.

Hey gang, thanks for this great tutorial, I can't wait to "dig-in" to my dryer to get it back in operation. That said, here's my problem. It started squealing non-stop this morning. I couldn't determine why, and then accessed the guts from behind. I immediately saw that there was a bunch of black residue (presumably from the drive belt). With that in mind, how can I tell if it's the belt, or something else that's causing it to spall off?

Squeaky is not usually caused by the belt itself it’s usually the pulley is sticking and making the belt slip around the polling creating the black dust. The only situation where the belt itself would squeak is if it is stretched and barely holding onto the drum creating a slip. Unlikely but possible. With the dryer I repaired in this video it was very obvious it was the shaft for the idler pulley. If you don’t think that’s it also check the rollers. I have a video on that.

My dryer is making a high-pitched squeak! Very loud, like the belt is slipping around the drum when it turns. Drys fine, just loud! If you could help that would be great. I watched part of your video. Husband needs to do this. thank you

It depends on which brand dryer it is. If it’s the Maytag like The one in this video it’s very likely it’s that idler pulley. Very easy fix.

Use the link in the description to use your model number to look up the correct belt. I have ordered belts before they were slightly too small and would not work. One thing you could do is measure how long the old belt is usually that measurement will be on any belt you go to order. Although you may run across the opposite problem with the old belt being slightly stretched

The drive belt for my dryer is $70 on that site and I’ve found it for $25-$30 on multiple sites. Check prices before you buy.

My dryer won’t spin with a normal size load in it. It spins with like half load size. What could be the problem ?

Could be the motor going bad. Usually dryers will hum a little bit when you try to start them with too many clothes if the motor is going bad. You might also check to see if it’s getting stuck anywhere like a roller is not turning.

Some of the wheel bearings didn’t spin as freely as the others. Also the pulley was stuck all the way at the top position so I took the belt off and retraced the belt. If that doesn’t change it the rolls may need replaced. Didn’t hear a humming sound
