One thing i do too is un plug my heater core lines and hook the garden hose up to it to flush out as much old coolant as possible

Hey Jimmy, nice job on the swap. This ma serve you purpose, I've been getting the full aluminum 4 core radiators from Amazon for about $225. (for the last one at least) My XJ runs way cooler, but I am also running a hi flow water pump from RockAuto.

Right on! Definitely need a better water pump to complete my cooling system overhaul

Thanks, I had an aluminum (gold color) 3/8" special tool to supposedly remove the lower transmission cooler line. However, try as I may, it would not come apart. I ended up removing the radiator half-way with the hose still connected and then removed the metal fitting where it enters directly into the plastic radiator tank. With the radiator removed, I could see the tabs inside holding the metal tube were actually already pushed back out of the way. So (without the tool) I twisted and pulled over and over again until the short metal line finally popped out (I did spray some more penetrating oil inside, which I had already done when the radiator was still in place. I am beginning to suspect, that for some reason, even after the tabs are pushed back, the tabs still are holding tight onto the metal line (just a theory I have). Anyway, I hope I never run into the modern automotive "engineers" who thought up the idea of a plastic tank for a radiator and a reak stupid way to remove some oil cooler lines.

I've got to do this on my 1996 XJ with just over 388k on the 4.0L. On average about how long does this take, just one day?
@JeepinJimmy7 ай бұрын
Yes sir can easily be done in a day or just a few hours. Thanks for watching!

6:20 Ha. As someone who has been struggling for the past hour trying to get that passenger side to fully seat so I can thread the nut back on, I think I'm going to follow your lead and say one should be good too 😂 It's still going to be bothering me, but at this point, I just want to get this back together

Haha its still holding up lol

Hey bed, need de-ionised water not distilled. Distilled can apparently still cause deposits and chemical interactions with the different metals, but hopefully the coolant additives will try fight that. Good work though, mine took me a day of fighting but its RHD lol.

Better than spring water haha. Thanks man!
