Gordon overheated on the first hot day. We found a late opening T-Stat. Replaced and seems to be working as it should now. We will have to wait for another hot day to see if it's really fixed.

@@AxlesGarage I let her do all the wrenching, I just pointed and talker her through it. Then an couple hours ago she changed her own tire after damage while off-roading on Assateague.

Loved the video! Right now, I get no hot air when I turn on the heat, so I am going to change the thermostat thanks to your video showing how it's done... Just wondering, my TJ says it needs specific coolant, though the guy I bought it from seemed to use regular Prestone.(Green stuff) .. Would regular Prestone hurt the system or could I place new Prestone back in there? Should I go with a HOAT coolant instead after I change out my Temp Gauge?

Use universal Green, the type that says clearly on the jug "can be added to any type of coolant". We have a no heat/luke warm heat issue in our TJ. Will be doing a video on it in the next few weeks.

Thanks! Your videos are great. I'm about to do a Thermostat/ Radiator/ Water Pump/ Heater Core Back Flush and watching the videos helped me out a lot! not looking forward to taking the fan off to get in there.

I recommended to buy the thermostat and new housing package it's only 13 bucks because mine had started to corrode..its makes a much cleaner installation and prevents the corrode materials out of the coolant

Was it still throwing a code for that EVAP after this was done? Having exact same problem currently.

What size socket did you use for the thermostat housing bolts? I need to change mine but my tj is in storage just want to make sure I take the right tools with me

IIRC, 1/2 or 13mm, I check our other TJ and confirm.

My 06 Unlimited just started overheating in the McDonald 's Drive through. I pull over shit everything down to see and the overflow bottle is empty. I add coolant and drive and it over heats again. Did two more legs like this to get it home. Next day it still has coolant and over heated again simply going around the block. Today there is no more coolant in the overflow bottle again. So slow leak as it took a day to drain out, but a leak all the same. Just bought new hoses and a new overflow bottle. Have to start this job myself. So glad oil isn't milky. So don't want to deal with a blown head gasket.

I just put a new thermostat in and also bought a new housing. Everything is all lined up and snug but when I started putting in antifreeze it started leaking from the housing. Would you know the reason for this?

Bad housing, improper installation of gasket, sealant, thread sealant to name a few.

Someone suggested map sensor it does it when I hit 2500/3000 rpm more so at Hwy speed

White grease isnt needed on the bolts and is a bad idea because it will not allow you to torque it because it will reduce friction. The only time you ever put anything on a bolt before torquing it is if its part of the factory procedure. If it is then the reduced friction is taken in to account. Those bolts should be dry.

@@AxlesGarage i grew up in nyc. Plenty of exp with rust. We cant deny that it changes torque specs though.

Yes agreed. Years ago I had an engine rebuild manual that gave specific different torque specs for dry and oiled bolts. However, when the torque is not critical (like most everything except bearings and such) you just need to be in the ball park. Using the lube has saved the next guy (usually me) countless headaches. If the torque with lube is overly concerning then put them in dry and deal with the rust removal later. It's a personal preference.

Cheers, the mechanic can't solve my hesitation at Hwy speed. I changed tps and it runs great around town but as soon as I hit 3000rpm or hit 100km/h it shudders. They telling me I may have. Cracked manifold. Back to square 1. Oh well

A cracked manifold will usually throw an O2 code because of un-metered air entering the system. I would think you either have a air/fuel problem or an ignition problem. Does it do it at 3000RPM in every gear, or just 4/5th?

run some Techron through it, and make sure your fuel injectors are clean.
