I can see your point Scott. I don’t feel bad for myself because I had a lot of fun with them, but I feel for those people that had the pain and couldn’t enjoy them.

I would rather keep the V1s I have and put a dab of Wax on my Boot Cleats and the Toe hooks once in a while. I Wax my own Boards so putting Wax on my Step Ons is nothing. I don’t mind doing my own Maintenance on all my Sports Equipment.

Hi, it would be nice if they made parts available. When I think about it, I think there’s different reasons for them not wanting to sell parts for these. Some of the reasons may be obvious but I also think people screwing up the install is also a risk for them. This isn’t as simple as loosening a screw and replacing a strap on a traditional binding. Some people I think will mess up the install and that may go into Burton’s reasoning to avoid selling these parts.

Thank you 🙏 I did reach out to Burton because people keep asking me about the version 2 toe hooks. Since they have issues with their supply chain, they need to keep what they have in stock in case people with the new bindings damage theirs. That's why they can't sell them to version one owners.

@@themidwestshredder I actually called them back in November asking me if they could sell me the V2 toe hooks and the rep told me they could not for safety reasons. I think they are giving us the run around.

Thanks Warren! Yeah the toe hooks aren’t perfectly aligned on mine but I haven’t had any issues. Some people have had issues with the insert in the toe hooks breaking on the version 2s. @@themidwestshredder Hey Jimmy, I got in contact with Burton and sent them pics of all the broken pieces as I have my toe hook housing disassembled. It seems Burton will not send out replacement parts as they are worried some users may not be able to reassemble correctly and this is a liability issue so they ask that you return the bindings in for repair. I even got the service rep to talk directly with the warranty manager but DIY fix was a no-go. I did request that they send me a set of extra toe hooks so if it breaks again I can fix it on my own but we'll see if they send those. It seems other users are having similar issues so I'm wondering if the V1 design was better even with the clicking noise as they don't have a rather thin plastic piece that can break easily. Wanted to share for your viewers in case someone is debating between V1 and V2.

Little by little I’m starting to hear more people experience the same problem. I have a trip coming up and I’m taking the V1s with me as a back up just in case. It’s good to know that that the boot still stays somewhat secure after the clip breaks. I can’t be screwing around on my upcoming trip since we’re going to be in the backcountry riding.

Broke my version 2 toe hook yesterday when my friend fell in front of me coming off the lift. Quality seems suspect. I'm very disappointed.

@@zcummins83 if it breaks again, I may request the v1 toe hooks. I don't care about clicking noises but those won't have thin plastic pieces that can fail

The actual hooks wouldn’t but I believe the clips that go inside of the hooks could be used.

Hi, the main difference between the Genesis and the regular step on binding is the highback with the heel hammock. The Genesis highback is softer and has the heel hammock. The heel hammock is there for cushion and comfort. The regular step on highback is stiffer and does not have a heel hammock. Base plate, toe hooks, and the lower portion of the highback is the same. We still don’t have snow here in the Midwest so I’m not sure when I’ll be able to ride them, but I bought a new set of the regular step ons. The Genesis were sold out and I’m happy with how the regular step ons ride. Btw, I did post a video showing the difference between both. How long have you been riding?

@@themidwestshredder Hey, I am riding for more than 20 years now, but I always used the regular boots and bindings with straps. Like I said I bought yesterday the Burton Photon boots, would you use the the regular step on with this boots or the genesis?

@@pedroalmodovar8100 hi, the photon boot is pretty stiff so you will have a pretty responsive set up no matter which binding you pick. What it will come down to is if you want to pay the extra money for a little extra comfort on the Genesis since it has the heel hammock. For me I just went with the new regular step ons. I have two sets of the version 1s and they are awesome. That binding is good already and I don’t feel the need to pay the extra money for the heel hammock on the Genesis. As soon as we can get snow here, I would like to ride them on the same day and review them both. Pedro, you won’t lose no matter which one you pick, trust me. The boot is stiff so it’ll be responsive no matter what.

@@pedroalmodovar8100 on the video i only showed the difference between the upper portion of the highbacks because that’s the only difference. These step ons are interesting because you are locked in the back. Both bindings will be responsive because of that no matter which one you pick.

I had a support chat with Burton today and their policy is to have customers send their complete binding to have service performed for a replacement. I was also told (two days ago) by a Burton Park City store clerk that all I had to do was chat them up online and they would send a V2 toe hook for my DIY replacement. Per Burton online support - no dice. I would settle for the option to buy the parts to upgrade from the V1 toe hook chatter to the V2.

Reach out to Burton (Burton.com) and get on a chat with them. Ask them if they could sell you those parts. They’re usually very helpful.

The V2 definitely has less play at the toes and is more responsive. I’ve beat on my V2s all season and haven’t broken a toe hook. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

My V2 toe clip broke too. Just sent bindings back to Vermont at my expense. WAY too brittle plastic for the amount of flex expected of it.

Only thing I’ve heard about is causing wear to the toe hooks if they’re forcing their way out and not doing it correctly.

Hi , maybe get in touch with Burton and they will ask you to send them a picture. They will warranty the toe hooks if they're damaged. You will probably get the same version toe hook though.

Snapped a toe hook today and burton want the whole binding back to evaluate. There really should be spare parts available for purchase.

@@themidwestshredder Yeah v2 step ons. 4th day riding. The real shame is that there is no way to get replacements without a warranty claim. They should be available in stores as spares. I called Burton and this experience really puts a cloud over the step on experience.

@@unkowntoyou hi Chris, I can totally see why you would be disappointed. A couple of people have told me that they broke the clips on the version 2s. I think they must’ve had a batch of bad clips. Mine are still doing well (*knock on wood) and I’ve put a beating on them. Hopefully Burton figures this out right away. Sorry to hear that man.

Haha I’m not sure Burton will do it. You can reach out to them but I don’t think so. Another option will be to sell your version ones and pay the difference.

@@robwang4962 in the past, I sold some step on boots on eBay. They sold fast.

You would have to reach out to Burton and explain the situation. Usually on burton.com they have a chat where you can talk with someone.

You have to go through Burton warranty. You have to show them that yours are damaged. If they are, they will replace them with the same version toe hooks. Right now they will not sell the updated version 2 toe hooks to just anyone.

That’s interesting to hear. Did they do that for you? I’ve seen them send the toe hooks with no baseplate on version 1s before.
