Great video Thank You - any tips on losening rusted 19mm caliper bracket bolts? Using breaker bar but still stubborn. Penetrating oil? Heat with small torch? (I don't want to snap them!) Thanks.

Hands down, the clearest, most complete explanation of changing the front brakes on a CRV. 1a auto is great. This video works for a 2015 CRV (my car) as well.

It's worth noting that the Phillips screws that hold the rotor on are NOT standard Phillips head. They are called Japanese industrial standard and using the wrong screwdriver to remove them will likely overtime strip them out. If you work on or own a Japanese vehicle they are well worth the investment!

Another great 1A video...thanks. I've watched many brake job videos and I see some put lube on the brake pad slides/ears and other don't. I always put lube on the brake pad ears with my brake jobs...but why not lube the ears? I noticed you did not. Is that recommended by Honda? Thanks !

+kev hed Thanks for checking us out! Apply lubricant on caliper pins, clips, edges of the brake pad mounting tabs, and back side of the brake pads if needed. *Do not apply lube on the friction side of the brake pads.1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

@@willfrederickson2131 Change the calipers when you change brake pads? Are you insane?
@infesting
@infesting 2 жыл бұрын
Rust is not a reason to warrant new calipers. If the calipers work and are not leaking then there is ZERO reason to change them out. Rust acts as a protective layer. The parts are designed to rust and the layer of rust protects the part from further corrosion. You will notice its only surface rust which is expected and normal.

Thank you, just asking myself why no lube for easy disassemble if needed next time, like basket was pretty tight, if some Anti-seize on, then comes apart easier when needed, also your BRAKES don't come with NEW CLIPS, I also thought you should have stated the wear indicator goes on the inside part of the Rotor. Also brake cleaner on rubber dust boots on slide pins ? That safe for rubber, if so, then should say so and what kind to use, I've never used brake clean on inside like that, just asking because the pro now. I've done many brakes, never on Foreign vehicles, always stayed away after helping a friend a VW, wasn't fun and never again. Also where some rust pointed out on Hub, you wire brushed it, why not put Anti-seize there before rotor going on, making it easy to come off on next BRAKE JOB and on screws so don't rust in tight, then need impact tool screwdriver to get out if lucky, might need to chisel screw by backing It Off with a chisel, for a few bucks, they can be replaced if in stock. Should come with rotors in my opinion. Great video, hopefully my questions can be answered.

What's the purpose of the screws for the rotor other then to hold the rotor in place?
@VictorHernandez-nt3tw
@VictorHernandez-nt3tw 4 жыл бұрын
That's pretty much the only purpose. A lot of cars don't even have those screws, the rotors are usually loose. Technically you don't even need those
@infesting
@infesting 2 жыл бұрын
They are only used on the production floor when the car is built because the rotors need to stay in place on the assembly line before the calipers are installed. You DO NOT need to put the screws back when doing a brake job. Those screws will seize up and be a bitch to remove in the future so its best to remove them and get rid of the screws.

I never push the fluid back into the system. Always bleed it out and pump up, bleed out the air, this flushes the fluid in the lines. That stuff is water attracting, needs to be purged out. If it’s been a long time since the last brake job, start by draining (siphoning or use a turkey baster) and replacing the master cylinder fluid first so you don’t just send all of that old fluid down the lines.

Thats great but its not needed and most people are looking for the least expensive option when changing brakes. majority of people live paycheck to paycheck in america and added unnessesary steps added to a brake job will just add unnessesary cost the bill.

Never use same hardware, everything must be cleaned like new ! never use paper to clean caliper pin and housing.
@infesting
@infesting 2 жыл бұрын
Your technically correct but using new hardware is only recommended to prevent people from using a bolt with rust on it and m essing up the threads. As long as you pay attention and clean your parts there is no reason you cant reuse hardware. They are trying to sell you new hardware there is new reason you need new hardware.
