Nice video - clearly filmed, nicely explained, good extra tips and the music's at the right level (i.e. not overbearing) :) I notice you don't use any 'anti-brake squeal' to hold the back of the pads onto the pistons and prevent any pad-rattle?

Thanks. I'm trying to get the last pistons back in on the right side. :) The trick about loosening the cap is great. I was trying to push all 4 pistons in (on the right caliper) without doing that. Really difficult! :D The only thing I would suggest is that you cover your tires when spraying any soap (or brake cleaner) around 'em. I covered mine with towels and then placed a bucket (on top of a DeWalt case) near the wheel so I could use Brake Cleaner in the bucket with precision and no overspray. :D It's also good to lubricate those pins with brake lubricant. (I just did my rear pads a week ago). Thanks for the helpful vid, Mike!

Loosen the reservoir cap slightly then you should be able to push them all back. Also, try cleaning them.

how did you get the calliper out from its mount without removing the wheel first ? I tried doing it and the rim gets in the way. That exact part of the video is edited

Great video! Couple of questions: Should you use blue loctite on caliper bolts when putting back? If new pads seem squeaky what should do? What about cleaning the rotors, as well?

my shop manual only lists 25nm for the rear brake calliper screw. I am guessing it should be the same for the front as well. Strangely no mention of torque specs for the front

how about removing the brake disc to take the caliper out and then pads? Just curious if might be easier or not. Also, what happens if I overtorque the screws, because I don't have a wrench with torque indicator :)

+PerformanceTube I thought the same exact thing. That just a lot more work. To be honest, you don’t even need to remove the Calipers. I only do that during my major service intervals to clean things up.

I think the front breaks are easier than the back 🤔 ..... yea I agree if you would of pay to get this done they won't clean the calipers .....
@ClutchFirst
@ClutchFirst 6 жыл бұрын
willmatic 84 They are equally simple to do. The front just appears easier because it’s not cramped. Try bleeding the Rear Brake...now that could be annoying.

It's not a must to remove and clean your calipers, but since you're doing the work yourself, why not go all the way and give your bike some TLC. Thought it would be a great idea to show this extra step that usually gets overlooked.
