I have a Trek 7200 hybrid with SRAM SRX Maximum plus grips 3x7 gears. They have turned gooey and peeling apart. I measured the total length of grips at 5 inches. But it's a two piece grip. What should I buy as replacement grips for each side? Thank you!

Wish I could find covers more easily. I have an old Trek Navigator 200 where the grips have turned gummy and just want to replace those. Can't seem to find the parts to replace those. Wondering if I could wrap them somehow in the meantime, but being able to buy just the covers would be great. :) Appreciate the video. Doing just this would be a bunch easier than changing out the whole shifter just to get new grips.

Thanks for the tip shy...now I can save some of those Gripshifters that I have been tossing....

Use a spray bottle for the rubbing alcohol -- way easier and less wasteful for grip install/removal. For bonus points, shoot compressed air under the installed grips to evaporate the alcohol.

Great video! I have been searching the web looking for the replacement grip that is ribbed on inside, that turns the shifter. Haven't been able to find that. I would think they should be fairly common. Any clue on what I should look for? Thanks!

The rubber on my grip shifter deteriorated very badly. I used 1 inch grip tape to cover it. This is similar to skateboard decking, and is typically used on the front edge of a stair to provide grip. The tape wanted to unravel so I put a narrow Velcro loop around it to hold it in place. I always wear gloves when bicycling so the textures don’t bother me. I purchased this bike used. It is the only bike I’ve ever had deteriorated rubber, probably because the prior owner never wore gloves when riding.

What year is that? I just bought a 2001 crossroads A1 Sport for a 100 bucks from a neighbor. Really nice bike. Needs a little tlc. Hence why I am watching the vid. Lol. Thank you.

The only help videos I am finding are to change the cable or change the grip. Isn't anyone having trouble with stiff/ hard movement of the gear shifter. Help

My issue is that my sram shifter is stiff. It will not shift to a lower gear, only higher. I have taken it apart a sprayed silicone lube but with no success. cables are clean, lower unit moves fine. These are plastic parts that might just be worn out as I ride a lot. Any help would be appreciated.

I use wd40 and a small screwdriver to remove the handle grips.
