Can you advise me as to how to remove the hose connection. It has been on for 15 years. I am having the hardest time EVERR getting this thing off. I don't want to damage the aluminum tube coming out of the firewall. I don't need any more damage other than what is already there Thanks so much

So a short story that happened to me yesterday. I drove into mexico for a 12 hour drive from the border all the way to Mazatlan. 3 hours in and my VW Routan started heating. I found the leak and those lines are all plastic. If you ever come across this situation make sure that you refill the tank every 30 to 40 minutes depending on how much its leaking. Make sure you drive with the heater on and no the cold air. Cold ac will make more pressure. These lines are all plastic. Make sure to get the metal ones.

Hi. Thank you for the lovely video. May i ask why do you need to empty and refill coolant? Is it just to avoid making a mess? And to take your time to fix and fill? My issue is the following, i don't need to replace mine, they have been cancelled before on my minivan, this means the heating circuit doesn't work. All my y connector holes are not connected to anything. I think I might be able to connect them without spiling much coolant. Do I still have to empty and refill radiator coolant?

It would be nice to add which heater hose is inlet, and which is outlet, on a 2010, since (as I understand it) the engine styles changed after 2010... Since the same hose went bad 2 years later, is there a metal "Y" style split with hose clamps version?

Excellent video but you might wanna remove that brake booster line while working and take out the battery that we have plenty of space I did all that plus removed the front bumper cover because I wanna put some new horns on

I just finished swapping the hoses and turned on the van to let the coolant burp and overflow the radiator and my van is still spiking to hot. It still is overheating. There are no leaks. What could be the problem. Reservoir is full.

It’s most likely your heater core not the lines you just replaced. You might not see a leak if it’s your heater core since the core is usually behind the dash if it’s a big leak eventually it will seap through and you will have coolant build up under the carpet of the interior

Step 1. Chop off those plastic y connectors and never use plastic again. Step 2. Go buy 2 brass t connectors at a hardware store and clamp them in. Step 3. Never have this concern again for the rest of your life.

So what would the aluminum line that's connected to that be called? Runs around the front of the engine. Thats the piece I need to replace.

Same issue with my 09 Routan.. Y hose busted, went to AutoZone to get all new aluminum heater hose kit. Cost me about $122. Gonna fix it myself to save the labor price.

What liquid did you spray when removing the rope heater hose from the firewall?, no one ever comments on the difficulty of removing stuck hose

i would not disconnect the hoses at the heater core inlet and outlet lines as this person is doing. these areas are very fragile as they age from heat through the years. if you damage one of these, you will need to replace your heater core. and that is not as easy and can be very expensive.

I had a question before I take my whole dashboard apart do you know exactly where the heater core is located for 2013 Chrysler town and country only video I seen online was like at bottom of console that u can access it by just removing that lower plastic piece but I did not see it there

Stupid expensive hose locally, but super cheap on rockauto. Part number for lower/outlet is 24742 Gates brand (very reputable) and 24741 for the upper/inlet $28.99/$37.79 as of 11/22/22. Or you can get the kit from their site with both hoses for $30/$35 plus shipping I imagine, but personally I wouldn’t trust those no name brands. I don’t work for rockauto, just had to change it last night for wife. I did only the top that was leaking, paid $80 locally at O’reilly (WITH my shop discount 😭). Time and availability always play a big factor, so if you have the time order online!

Ok so I just installed this part on my 2011 grand caravan. My only problem is the 90 degree elbow with the plastic tab does not stay on. I have pushed it in all the way and it still won’t go as far as it needs to. Am I doing something wrong? It will not for the life of me lock on.

@@idiotoncamera My original hose actually popped of the plastic tab after 150K. Never saw a tab like that before, found this video, and simply removed the tab before pushing it back on the metal end. Be sure the clips on the tab are lined up with openings in the hose so they have room to expand as you push the hose on.

Something like this: Blaster PB Penetrant 4-fl oz PB Penetrant, doesn't have to be this brand, but seems to be the cheapest at hardware store.

my 2014 Town and Country is overheating. The shop said I need to replace the heater hose assembly. Is this the same thing? And they said I'll need to remover the head to do the job, but it looks like you don't have that here.

2013 grand caravan same issue. The branched heater core hoses were cracked and slewing coolant when under pressure. Replaced it and problem solved.

One of the worst vehicles known to mankind , 2 years overheating having hoses pop off plastic crap parts leaking sometimes one day after the other I hate Chrysler and dodge with all my soul
