most videos about car repairs are stupid and low quality. but as a tech in training i find this one very helpful. thank you

Stick the jack on the bottom of the tie rod end and jack up til the force of the spring gives you enough friction to get the nut off without the ball joint turning. Worked for me. The t40 insert point rounds so easily when it's corroded

👍🏾Great tip about the anti-seize application 👍🏾. The reason why I have to replace mine now is because the outer's are stuck.

Great video Oscar. Thanks very much. Will be changing the inner and outer tie rods on both sides of my 2005 E66 soon, for peace of mind.

You've been very helpfull for me. My roght tie rod was floppy need to be changed, and stuck rusted inside, so I couldn't unscrew it anyhow. Other side tie rod I cut by grinder along from one side of tie rod and put penetrating oil on it. Than holding inner tie rod by 15mm wrench I coud unscrew outer tie rod easly. I put lemforder outer tie rod . Thank's and have a good day. Grease inside is very good idea ather way rust will sized this quickly.

Thanks man I filed a video and I just finished today. I did the same I just tighten it the best I could. One question though I didn't use a tie rod tool to tighten it. Could that damage my rack?

e60s are super easy to align, all you need is a wall leveler from harbor freight with the ver/hor beams. $60. i need to make a video

Hi! Don't you put any grease on the new inner tie rod ball joint or is it factory pre greased? I'm gonna do this job on my E39 this weekend, and I will use LEMFÖRDER, pre greased with white lithium grease. I'm gonna upload the video btw. Thank you.

Hi , yes the tie rod come with a greas pack in the box I just realized I did not show the part where I use that grease packet and applied it to the tie rod. But you can apply your grease in the applicable area.

Hey oscar, would you recommend moog tie Rod? How long they last? BTW greatly appreciate that man. I've completed 4 control arms replacement thanks to you.
@oscars-autorepair32363 жыл бұрын
Hi Ismail, I highly recommend Moog tie rods, it's been a few years and they are still going strong on the bmw. As long as you grease them every three oil changes you should be solid.

Hey oscar, how was the car behaving before you did this job? My car has bin going out of control when i drive in uneven roads especially when im braking. Also my car has got worse, now when i pull up to any driveway i hear small chunks on both wheels or when im parking and reversing making creaking noise. Any advice?
@oscars-autorepair32366 жыл бұрын
I change mine because i attempted to get an alignment and the tire shop advise me to get the inner and out rod change due to the fact that the tire had too much play. So i recommend you jack up your front end and on each tire put your hand in the 9 'o'clock and 3'oclock position and if you have play i would encourage you to change the inner and outer rods.
@oscars-autorepair32366 жыл бұрын
also try checking all 4 tires, sometimes the tires get worn uneven and you might get that car going out of control

Why did you change these parts? Did you have play in your steering? I don't have play but have creaking and little piping sounds when steering at low speed or reversing into bay on full lock, any help would be appreciated. Thanks
@oscars-autorepair32364 жыл бұрын
Good morning Stuart, I replaced the inner and outer tie rods due to having play , I took the BMW to get a wheel alignment and the tech advise me the left side had alot of play and since one side is going bad most likely the other side will follow. I when a step ahead and changed all inner and outer tie rods that will give me more piece of mind knowing I have a better steering suspension and better drive handle. Try lifting one side of the car with a jack and check for play, place one hand at a the 12oclock position and the other hand on the 6oclock position and move up and down and check for wheel play. If it moved and a knocking sound is heard. Changed as needed. I hope this helps

@@oscars-autorepair3236 will do thanks, I have been told my anti roll bar bushes may need replacing with the creaking sounds I'm getting when turning at low speed.

Why would you remove them separately?
@oscars-autorepair32364 жыл бұрын
Hi well I wanted to show how you can take apart separate in case you only had to change one of the tie rods, inner or outer. Again , this is one of many ways to replace these parts. But you can certainly remove in one single piece
